A new photo has been released of Colin Farrell in character in the upcoming The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin.
Viewers first met Farrell’s re-imagining of the iconic villain in the 2022 film, which starred Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader. But now Farrell’s big-mouthed mobster will get his own show on HBO, which will stream locally on BINGE.
The Hollywood star will play the titular role in the highly anticipated series, which picks up where The Batman ended with the Penguin left to fill Gotham’s criminal underworld void following the demise of mob boss Carmine Falcone (played by John Turturro).
In the newly released photo, Farrell looks foreboding as the Penguin, aka Oswald Cobblepot, who, with his heavy frame and receding hairline, looks on from higher ground as he seemingly plots his plans to take over Gotham.
Fans were given a first look of the series back in March when Farrell was spotted filming the on the streets of New York.
The actor was almost unrecognisable as he transformed into the bald baddie with facial prosthetics including pockmarked skin.

“There was all this extraordinary work done by [makeup artists] Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine and his team, and I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were getting to do the six or seven scenes that we did in the film. I was grateful for them, but I wanted more,” he told Variety at the time.
In April, HBO executive Casey Bloys played a teaser for the series on YouTube, which showcased Penguin’s attempt to become Gotham’s new kingpin.
“This is one of those moments where you gotta ask yourself what kinda life do you want?” the supervillain says in the clip.
“This world ain’t built for guys like us. That’s why we gotta take what’s ours.”
The Penguin also stars Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell.
