After years of waiting, Sex and the City fans can get their cosmos ready for a double episode premiere of the reboot this week.

It’s been 11 years since we last checked in with the Sex and the City franchise, and now we’re finally getting a long overdue status update.

The reboot – titled And Just Like That – premieres express from the US with two half-hour episodes this Thursday on Binge, both dropping at 7pm AEDT.

The 10-episode series reunites three of the four original cast members: Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbs as they navigate life, love and New York in their 50s.

Controversially, Kim Cattrall will not be returning as Samantha Jones following a well-documented falling out with Parker. Little is known about how writers have written her beloved character out of the Manhattan-sphere, though some reports suggest Samantha will now be based in London.

The last time we saw the gal pals was in 2010s Sex and the City 2, which massively bombed among critics despite a decent box office performance.

Everyone got their happy ending at the end of the movie, with Carrie saving her marriage to Mr Big (Chris Noth) after cheating on him with her ex-boyfriend Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) in Abu Dhabi, while mothers Miranda and Charlotte were still blissfully in love with their respective spouses, Steve Brady (David Eigenberg), and Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler).

All the aforementioned actors are returning for the reboot, however there are fears for the fate of Carrie and Big’s marriage after Page Six leaked a script detailing Carrie talking about her divorce.

It will no doubt ruffle some feathers of diehard fans, who have been following the couple’s love story since the very first episode of Sex and the City in 1998.

It’s also not known how creators will handle the death of Willie Garson – who has played Carrie’s bestie Stanford Blatch since the beginning of the HBO series.

Garson, who was 57 when he died in September, had been filming And Just Like That when his sudden death rocked the cast.
