Sex And The City reboot, And Just Like That, drops first teaser at Emmys

The first teaser – albeit a short and sweet one – for the Sex And The City reboot has dropped, but attention has quickly turned to rumours of a big character death.

And Just Like That … teaser

More than a decade after we last saw Sex And The City, it looks like Carrie Bradshaw and Mr Big are still in love.

HBO released a brief teaser for their much-anticipated revival, And Just Like That … during the 2021 Emmy Awards on Monday.

The clip shows Sarah Jessica Parker as an older and still uber stylish Carrie hugging her husband Big (Chris Noth). The longtime pair then wash dishes before sharing a passionate embrace in their upscale NYC apartment. But could this be the kiss of death?

Rumours have been swirling since the revival was announced that a major character may be killed off in the first episode, with the show set to stream on Binge in Australia later this year.

“A person close to the show teased that it is going to be a big death,” according to The Daily Mail, prompting fears that the return of Noth, “could be a short one”.

But thankfully for fans the character is seemingly alive and well, at least, in the 10-second teaser.

In another scene from the teaser, returning stars Kristin Davis who plays Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, reunite with Parker in their signature Manhattan-worthy outfits.

And Just Like That … will feature Carrie and her best gal pals as they endure friendship and relationship troubles in their 50s.

Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones on the original HBO series and two films, decided not to return to the character amid rumours of a feud between her and Parker, 56.

Last month, Noth, 66, shared a snap of himself cuddling with Parker in bed on the set of the revival. “Just like the old days!” Noth captioned his post.

Other original cast members who are returning for the new series include Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch), Mario Cantone (Anthony Marentino) and Bridget Moynahan (Natasha Naginsky) and Carrie’s other serious boyfriend Aidan Shaw, played by John Corbett.

Corbett, 60, revealed his involvement with the series to Page Six back in April. “I’m going to do the show,” he said, adding that the news is “very exciting” for him.

“I think I might be in quite a few [episodes],” he continued. “I like all those people, they’ve been very nice to me.”

Sex And The City ran from 1998 until 2004 and spawned two film adaptations, released in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

No release date has been set for the revival.
