Fans spot wild casting detail in Sex and the City reboot

Carrie Bradshaw meets Aidan’s ex-wife for the first time in the new episode – and she’s more than just a familiar face.

Manhattan may be a small stomping ground for the folks on And Just Like That, but it just got even smaller.

In this week’s episode of the HBO series – which airs locally on BINGE – Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw got to met her rekindled love Aidan Shaw’s ex-wife, Cathy, for the first time.

And in a funny stunt-casting twist, the actress cast to play John Corbett’s ex is Rosemarie DeWitt – the real-life wife of Ron Livingston, aka Carrie’s infamous ex-boyfriend from season six of Sex and the City, Jack Berger.

For a quick refresher, Berger appeared on the original Sex And The City series, playing an author was so jealous of Carrie’s success, he dumped her with a Post-it Note.

Yep, in the middle of the night, he broke it off with Carrie via a note stuck to her computer screen, on which he had written: “I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.”

Thankfully, it appears Berger’s real-life alter ego is nowhere as flippant. Livingston has been married to DeWitt since 2009 and they share two daughters.

Other SATC fans pointed out that DeWitt has actually appeared on the original SATC series before, playing a catty lawyer named Fern at Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) law firm.

The duo did not see eye-to-eye after Miranda returned from maternity leave following Brady’s birth, with Fern resenting the new mum for coming to work late and leaving early to care for her son.

Ironically, this episode with Fern, titled Hop, Skip, and a Week, was the same one that featured Berger and the infamous Post-it dumping.

But in case you were wondering, this was not when Livingston and DeWitt met and fell in love. They would later cross paths in 2006 when they starred in the drama series Standoff.

DeWitt most recently starred in the comedy The Estate opposite Aussie actress Toni Colette and they again appeared together in the series The Staircase, which also aired on BINGE. DeWitt will also star in the upcoming fourth season of The Boys.
