The hotly anticipated new Aussie comedy-drama Strife made its world premiere last night at a star-studded event in Sydney.
Star and executive producer Asher Keddie led the way on the red carpet in a slinky, shimmery gown to promote the new BINGE Original Series, with her castmates including Matt Day, Jonathan LaPaglia, Tina Bursill, Emma Lung and Alex Dimitriades also in attendance.
“It’s exciting, this one, because it feels like we can connect with women of all ages... and guys. There’s some really fabulous male characters in this as well,” Keddie said on the red carpet at the Darlinghurst Theatre.
“Strife is my sweet spot – this is where I feel happy, either performing or watching content,” she added. “It has plenty of heart and it’s smart and it’s fast, but there’s lots of levity as well. So it was actually a joy to make; it was joyous.”
All eight episodes of the series drop today on BINGE. The show sees Keddie play a former magazine editor named Evelyn Jones who launches a women’s lifestyle website all while navigating divorce, motherhood and friendships.
The series is loosely based on the 2017 memoir by Australian publishing giant Mia Freedman, titled Work, Strife, Balance.
While the show draws inspiration from the book, the character of Evelyn is not strictly based on Freeman but rather a character Keddie and the producers have created from scratch.

“If I could describe Strife in three words, I’d say it is heartfelt, beautifully-shot as one word, and hilarious,” said Bryony Skillington, who plays Penny in the series – an eager writer who works for Evelyn.
The one and only Kylie Minogue also makes a cameo on the series, playing a famous pop star named Gwen Lewis who has beef with Evelyn after she publishes an untouched photo of Gwen on her website.
“For Evelyn to go head-to-head with Gwen, we knew straight away we wanted to offer the role to Kylie,” Keddie – who shares the same manager in Australia as Minogue – told The Daily Telegraph last week.
While Minogue did not walk the red carpet last night, other stars who did included Lincoln Younes, Maria Angelico, Rhys Mitchell, Olivia Junkeer, BeBe Bettencourt, Lucy Ansell, Darcy Tadich and Willow Speers.
All eight episodes of Strife are available to stream now on BINGE
