Home And Away star Lynne McGranger speaks out about Sam Frost's recent vaccination controversy

Sam Frost’s Home And Away co-star Lynne McGranger has spoken out about the actress’ recent vaccination controversy, revealing how the cast and crew reacted to the fallout.

“Look, everyone is very supportive of Sam. We all might have differing opinions, but that’s one thing about the cast and crew, we are supportive,” McGranger told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa on Thursday morning.

“The great news is that she’s arrived at a resolution and she will see that through, and she may take a few weeks off, either at the end of this year or the beginning of this year.”

McGranger, who was promoting her new memoir, Acting Up, also confirmed that Frost had confided in her during the turbulent time after she posted the infamous video, and insisted she was now doing “great”.

“I think that she has arrived at a solution and she realises that everyone supports that, and we don’t want to lose her, because we love her,” the actress told the radio hosts.

“I personally think she is a great little actress and a lovely person.”

Frost, 32, sparked a wave of outrage after posting a lengthy video on Instagram in October, declaring she was “unvaccinated”. She said there were a number of reasons why she wasn’t getting the jab, but preferred to keep it private.

However, the former Bachelorette this week released a new statement on Instagram, just days after Channel 7 revealed it was mandating vaccines for all staff.

Frost is currently filming the soap in Sydney, and revealed her character, Jasmine, was being “written out” temporarily to allow for her to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

She added she has a “medical procedure” booked in January so wouldn’t be fully vaccinated until “mid-late February”.

“I will be written out temporarily, Jazzy is going on an off-screen adventure for a few weeks. but I’ll be back,” Frost wrote.

“My bosses are amazing, we’ve been in open communication for months,” she added.

“Very grateful we were able to make a plan that works for everyone.”

In the original video, Frost said she was “really hesitant” about speaking out on her vaccination status, but she felt it was the right time.

“I feel like it’s getting to a point now in the world where there’s a lot of segregation, a lot of harsh judgment, and its taking its toll on my mental health,” Frost told her 577,000 followers in the since-deleted Instagram video last month.

“There are a lot of different reasons people aren’t getting vaccinated – and it might be because of their medical history, their concerns they might have, they might have family history, it might be religious reasons, whatever.

“I want to tell those people that feel like they’re getting separated from society – well, I’m not vaccinated, and there’s a reason why I’m not, I’ve spoken to my doctor and my psychologist about it, and I’m going to keep it private.”

Getting vaccinated against Covid means you are less likely to catch the virus, suffer severe symptoms, require hospitalisation or die.
