The Bachelorette 2020 has finally been revealed … and it’s not what you’d expect.

Fan favourite Elly Miles, 25, who won hearts across Australia and came in fifth on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor last year, will be the one handing out roses this time around – and she’ll be joined by her sister Becky, 30.

The casting of the siblings, who are from Parkes in regional NSW, marks a world first for the global franchise.

“I crave a life filled with happiness, adventure and good times. I’m looking for my best mate to share those memories with,” Elly, who works as a nurse, said of becoming the Bachelorette.

“I feel extremely blessed to be on this unique ride with Becky. Having her love, support and guidance throughout this journey is so important to me and I can’t wait to be there for her, on her journey to find love as well.”

Meanwhile, her fellow suitor and sister Becky, a defence contracting specialist, said she’s looking to find someone who will “go that extra mile, to have fun with, and be my best friend”.

“I’m so blessed to share this journey with my sister, and I am hopeful that we find our people together.”

The sisters have reportedly already gone into lockdown, with production scheduled to kick off in Sydney over the coming days.

It comes after widespread reports circulated back in March that Dancing With The Stars judge Sharna Burgess was all but confirmed to be the next Bachelorette.

Around that time, Burgess admitted that she would be nervous about signing on to do the program given the “unbelievable” level of drama she’s seen on the US version of the show.

“I’m not a drama person and wouldn’t want to be a part of that kind of television,” she told TV Week. “In saying that, I haven’t seen the Aussie version get to that level of drama.

“I will say that everyone around me is on board, everyone in the States wants me to do it, and Amanda Keller (who co-hosts Dancing With The Stars) is really keen for me to do it,” Burgess said.

The surprise announcement of the Miles’ casting comes just days after Channel 10 dropped the first look at season eight of The Bachelor starring Survivor fan favourite Locky Gilbert, in which he offered a tantalisingly hint at a proposal in the finale.

“I’m here to find love. I would love to get down on one knee at the end – I’m the kind of guy that would do it,” he says in the promo.

The 30-year-old travel tour company chief executive from Western Australian is an adrenaline junkie – he’s an experienced cave diver, base jumper, mountaineer and athlete – and built a legion of fans during his time on Survivor All-Stars.

The Bachelor 2020 will premiere on Ten on August 12, while no air date has yet been revealed for The Bachelorette.
