We’re just a few short weeks away from the new season, starring Survivor fan favourite Locky Gilbert. Here’s everything we know so far.

The Bachelor 2020 promo

With 2020 set to go down in history as the year everything just sort of froze in time while we all hung out at home, it’s hard to believe the new season of The Bachelor is nearly upon us.

But here we are.

Channel 10 recently dropped the first look at season eight starring Survivor fan favourite Locky Gilbert, in which he offers a tantalisingly hint at a proposal in the finale.

“I’m here to find love. I would love to get down on one knee at the end – I’m the kind of guy that would do it,” he says.

The 30-year-old travel tour company CEO from Western Australian is an adrenaline junkie – he’s an experienced cave diver, base jumper, mountaineer and athlete – and built a legion of fans during his time on Survivor All-Stars.

In a statement after his casting was announced, Locky said he was looking for someone with similar interests.

“I really want to find love. I’m pretty content with my life at the moment,” he explained.

“I go on these crazy adventures, but I’d love someone to share the memories with.

“I’ve got best friends, but I want to find that one best friend that I can spend the rest of my life with. This is an amazing opportunity to hopefully find someone special at the end.”

In the slick new promo, Locky can be seen showing off his skills in the kitchen before stripping down for a quick – and completely natural – on-camera shower, providing us all with an excellent preview of the endless rig shots we can expect from the upcoming season.

There’ll be plenty more of this.

… And this.
… And this.

“Being in love is like the best feeling in the world – it takes your breath away,” Locky says in the teaser.

“I’ve definitely had my heart broken. Love, it is scary … Love is like the scariest thing in the world.”

The adventure enthusiast adds: “I’ve done a lot of things in my life – jumping from buildings, scuba diving through shipwrecks – but being on The Bachelor is the craziest thing I’ve ever done.”

Locky is a keen adventurer.

The promo also gives us our first look at some of the ladies who will be vying for his heart, including a nurse who pulls off a nifty trick during their first introduction.

“I’m a nurse, I’d love to check and see how your heart’s going,” she tells Locky, reaching for his palm, before declaring: “Yeah, (your heart rate’s) a little bit up there!”

Nice try.
Nice try.

In another scene from the premiere, a woman in full dancer regalia – including metallic panels and a headdress – can be seen taking Locky for a spin around the rose-covered carpet.

Meanwhile, a blonde contestant is heard gushing to producers: “He’s amazing.”
