As she prepares to look for love on The Bachelorette, here’s what you need to know about the Gogglebox star turned reality TV queen Angie Kent.

She’s best known for her hilarious couch commentary and jungle antics, but who exactly is the next Bachelorette?

Angie Kent first graced our screens alongside best friend Yvie Jones in 2015 on Foxtel’s Gogglebox.

Originally from the Sunshine Coast, the 29-year-old moved to Sydney where she met and moved in with best friend Yvie.

Angie and Yvie lived alongside roommate Tom and their dogs, Oscar de la Renata and Leonardo Avocado and foster pup Sissy.

Off-screen, Angie is known for her love of animals, often using her social media as a platform to promote pet adoption and galvanise support for rescue shelters.

After eight seasons of Gogglebox, the duo confirmed they wouldn’t be returning to the show in 2019 as Angie had moved out of their home, which made filming difficult.

But their time on TV wasn’t over with both competing in the latest season of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! where Angie made the top five.

Now after landing her third stint on Australian TV as star of The Bachelorette she can officially take up a permanent position as Australia’s latest reality queen.

ANGIE HASN’T SHIED AWAY FROM CONTROVERSY

Angie’s time in the spotlight hasn’t been without controversy, with Foxtel’s TV director Brian Walsh telling TV Tonight earlier this year he wasn't happy about her and Yvie’s decision to go from Gogglebox to I’m A Celebrity.

“From a promotional point of view the issue that upsets Foxtel is the exploitation of the Gogglebox brand to market and sell another program,” he said

But Angie brushed off Mr Walsh’s criticisms, telling news.com.au she “loved doing Gogglebox”.

“I gave up four years of my life — eight seasons. We brought home three Logies. If Brian wants to be disappointed with us going into the jungle, that’s his choice. I still very much love Gogglebox and will always support it, but I’m a big girl and I wanted to spread my wings. When I’m A Celeb popped up, I thought why the hell not do something that Gogglebox couldn’t offer me?” she said.

Angie and Yvie also haven’t shied away from controversial views during their time on Gogglebox, claiming Love Island star (and later, I’m A Celeb campmate) was secretly gay.

They also copped flack from comedian Dave Hughes after they said he was “one of the ugliest people I’ve ever seen”.

HOW DID SHE BECOME THE BACHELORETTE?

Angie expressed interest in becoming the next Bachelorette shortly after her exit from I’m A Celebrity — and it appears Ten’s bosses were listening.

“I always said, ‘God no!’ But you know what, I think after having more time on television now and being on the other side of the couch. I reckon I could be an all-right bachelorette,” she told Yahoo.

“I’m definitely open to finding somebody. Home girl’s not getting any younger, so for sure.”

Angie was announced as The Bachelorette late last month, with the reality star saying she had nothing to lose by going on the show.

“I’ve always been the girl who loves to make everyone laugh, but now I reckon it’s time to have someone to laugh with me, rather than at me,” she said in a statement.

“I’m at a place now where I have loads of self-love, but I’m also open to all of life’s amazing possibilities. So, if 20 or so fellas want to join me, have a laugh and potentially be my perfect partner in life and love — I say — let’s give it a red hot go!”
