Bachelorette Ali Oetjen’s tearful meltdown
The reality TV star has admitting to facing pressure to edit her photos on Instagram as she shared a photo of herself crying over cruel online taunts.
Ali Oetjen has opened up about the pressure she faced to edit her social media photos as she shared a picture of herself crying over cruel online taunts.
The Bachelorette star posted a photo of herself with bloodshot eyes and a tearful expression, revealing in the cation she had couldn’t sleep because of “online bullies”.
Oetjen said she had been annoyed that they bullies “were right” about her using too many filters and editing the shot.
“At the time I thought, this photo of my face is not ‘pretty enough’ I have an image to uphold & must make it look flawless! Crap! It made me feel s**t!” Oetjen wrote.
The reality star turned fitness influencer said she had decided to share an unedited photo of herself to show that on “bad days” she feels “vulnerable, fragile & sensitive”.
“To the bullies out there; I’m more engaged with my followers online than ever because of my business & so I read comments, react & reply,” she added.
“On my ‘good days’ my mindset stays strong that people’s comments are only a reflection of themselves. But on my bad days they HURT.”
Oetjen’s time in the spotlight hasn’t been easy, with her season of The Bachelorette the worst rating in the franchise’s history.
She’s also faced a backlash over her past relationship with Grant Kemp, who she met on Bachelor in Paradise.
But their relationship ended soon after the show wrapped, with Kemp claiming he had dumped Oetjen after catching her getting intimate with another man, claims which she denies.
Earlier this month Oetjen revealed she was pursuing a career singing with the help of her boyfriend Taite Radley.
Prior to appearing on The Bachelorette Oetjen had worked as an account manager at an Adelaide radio station.
Last month she launched e-book Ali Oetjen 8 Week Healthy Lifestyle Program which she is selling for a staggering $69.97.
