New Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson’s one demand revealed
Jimmy Nicholson says before he could sign on as The Bachelor, there was one thing he needed the producers to agree to.
Australia’s newest Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson has revealed the one simple demand he had before he agreed to star in the show.
And it’s a sweet request: Jimmy says he wanted to give his ex-girlfriend a heads up that he was the new Bachelor, so she’d hear it straight from him that he was going to be looking for love on national television.
Reality TV contestants are usually sworn to secrecy when they’re first cast, but as Jimmy told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa this morning, he needed to bend the rules.

“One of the prerequisites for me going into it – obviously, I had to sign an NDA – but I said to Warner Bros that I had to tell my ex. We’re on good terms, and I think I would want to know if she was doing it,” he explained.
He said they had broken up “a few years ago,” but it had been a “long-term relationship”.

Elsewhere in this morning’s chat, Nicholson addressed a bizarre conspiracy theory about him that had been circulating among fans. Some on social media had suggested he wasn’t actually a pilot, after a photo of him dressed as a lifeguard began circulating. Turns out, he’s both.
“I was stood down from work last year due to covid,” he explained, “So my mate and I went and joined the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club as volunteers because we had a bit of downtime.”

So what to expect from this new season of The Bachelor? In a recent interview with news.com.au, Nicholson confessed that something happens inside the Bach mansion this season that makes him “crack the sh*ts.”
“One night in particular, something unfolded where I cracked the sh*ts a little bit,” he said. “The penny dropped that someone who was there, who I thought was this person, was in actual fact someone completely different.”
Jimmy said he was “frustrated” and “annoyed” and that things came to a “boiling point” where he confronted the Bachelorettes and spoke to them all.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how that comes off,” Jimmy said about the drama. “But it is what it is. I’m not perfect.”
The new season of The Bachelor debuts 7.30pm tonight on Ten.
