‘I don’t understand why people don’t like me’: Cat leaves Bachelor in Paradise
Hell hath no fury like a Bachelor contestant scorned — especially if they have just been bluntly rejected on national television.
It’s only the first week but already we have Bachelor in Paradise’s first runaway contestant, with Cat Henesey-Smith fleeing on foot and refusing to return to the rose ceremony.
On Wednesday viewers were given a sneak peak of Cat’s dummy spit, with the former Bachelor villain becoming annoyed and storming off after failing to be chosen by either Richie Strahan or Nathan Favro.
“F**k this,” Cat said, storming off.
Cameras scrambled to follow Cat as she fled the ceremony, with friend and fellow contestant Alisha Aitken-Radburn eventually catching up with her.
But while Cat tried to escape the attention by hiding in the bathrooms her frustrated rant was captured by her still-on microphone.

“I just don’t get it!” Cat told Alisha, sobbing loudly.
“(I’m) trying to be so genuine and trying to meet someone, and I don’t understand why people don’t like me.
“I don’t get what is wrong with me. I just did not see that happening — I’m NOT going back out there.”
Unaware of what was happening the rest of the Bachelor in Paradise cast were left standing awkwardly at the unfinished rose ceremony, while Cat continued to cry and complain.
“I really thought I was going to be here, like, for the long shot,” Cat continued.
“You know, I genuinely had a good connection with Richie, like all day.
“I don’t get it, it’s honestly shocked me. They chose another girl over me, it’s embarrassing.”
Still crying, Cat also continued to protest the fact that she hadn’t gotten a rose as she had hoped to find love on Bachelor in Paradise.
“I don’t know what it is but I just feel like I can never meet anyone, I don’t know why a guy wouldn’t want a girl that’s confident and outgoing and funny,” she whined to producers in a piece to camera.
"I didn’t think that I’d go on the first night, like I just feel so unloved and so unwanted right now.
“I really wanted to leave here with someone, I didn’t even get a chance.”
Eventually host Osher Gunsberg returned to reveal Cat had decided to leave the show rather than stay for the rest of the rose ceremony, with Bill Goldsmith then making the final choice of the night.
Bill opted to give the last rose to Rachael Gouvignon over Vanessa Sunshine — who had a surprisingly chill reaction to going home.
“Vanessa, you didn’t receive a rose,” Osher said.
“That’s fine,” she replied.
While Cat was shocked at being among the first to depart Bachelor in Paradise viewers were, ahem, less surprised.
"I don't know why a guy wouldn't want a girl who is confident and funny" said Cat while crying after dramatically storming off, never telling a single joke and leaving the show altogether. #bachelorinparadiseau

Cat’s short-lived stint on Bachelor in Paradise comes after her time on The Bachelor last year came to an abrupt end.
Cat, who was labelled one of the season’s “mean girls” alongside Alisha and Romy Poulier, was sent packing by Nick Cummins after she was accused of bullying antics by another contestant.
Bachelor in Paradise continues Tuesday 7.30pm on Network 10
