Bachelor in Paradise: Fans call-out massive double standard

Viewers have called-out a double standard on Bachelor in Paradise, slamming a former favourite and praising a misunderstood “villain”.

The tables have turned on a Bachelor fan favourite tonight, with viewers slamming Ciarran Stott for his bad boy actions in Fiji.

Flocking to Twitter during Thursday’s episode, in light of Ciarran’s bedhopping and partner-swapping, fans pointed out a blinding “double standard” in the harsh treatment of the female contestants compared with the men.

It’s something Abbie Chatfield – who was considered the “villain” of Matt Agnew’s season for what fellow contestants labelled an aggressive approach in pursuing Matt – has pointed out several times before.

Last October, the outspoken reality star posed naked on Instagram to expose the problematic reality.

In Wednesday’s premiere episode, Ciarran – no stranger to getting his kit off on national television – arrived at the Mango Bay Resort in Fiji completely naked, covering his modesty with a bunch of grapes.

The 26-year-old quickly found himself caught between Cassandra Mamone and Abbie on arrival.

But his history with another Bach alum, Renee Barrett, who he dated before she appeared on Matt’s season, became a hot topic of conversation at the first dinner party, after he was forced to confess that he had cheated on her with another woman while attending a wedding.

After dropping the bombshell, he took a stroll with Cassandra and the two flirted up a storm, but after the star failed to get a kiss from the jewellery designer, he made his way into Abbie’s room.

Then he spent the night in the bedroom of new arrival Jess Brody, moments after returning from a date with Abbie.

Fans — who had adored Ciarran’s cheeky nature from Angie’s season — were not impressed.

While some simply commented that he was their favourite no more, others were baffled that while Jess’ background as a stripper was immediately pointed out by contestant Cass, no one seemed to mention or care about Ciarran’s past as an adult entertainer.

They were quick to slam the double standard.

Abbie was ultimately sent home tonight after failing to receive a rose, and while Ciarran and Jess’ budding relationship looks to be heating up, his ex Renee is set to return to the franchise to drop truth bombs.
