‘I am at the end of my tether’. Abbie Chatfield responds to trolls

After reading a number of cruel comments on bikini photos published of her in a Daily Mail article, Abbie Chatfield decided to call out the haters.

Bachelor's Abbie Chatfield launches blistering tirade after being 'slut-shamed'

Bachelor runner-up Abbie Chatfield has posted a furious rant against “bodyshamers” after spotting a number of cruel comments on recent bikini photos.

The blonde beauty was photographed enjoying a day out with Bachelorette runner-up Todd King in Noosa over the weekend, with the Daily Mailreleasing snaps of her swimming in the ocean and running along the beach in an orange gingham bikini.

While the article itself had referred to her as a “sun-kissed beauty” and noted her “sensational curves”, a number of readers jumped in the comments section to body shame the 24-year-old.

“Saggy all over. Shed some pounds or wear clothes that actually suit an fit (sic). For someone who goes to the gym, she sure is loose. Once a h*e always a h*e though. She’ll be onto dry h*mping her next piece of meat soon enough,” one particularly vicious comment said.

“Geez, leave some pies for the rest of us!,” another bullied, while others described her as “fat” or “flabby” and urged her to “burn that bikini”.

After reading the nasty comments about her figure, the reality star posted a fiery response on Instagram — begging people to “leave her in peace … for the sake of the mental health of the general public” who may read the comments and “internalise the views of others”.

“Body shaming, Slut shaming, Sexism,” she labelled the cruel words.

“These comments don’t necessarily affect me, it sucks to read, but I remember that I am grateful for my body and all that it does for me, and I move on,” she said.

“What really concerns me is that people who aren’t as comfortable in themselves as I am will read this and internalise the views of others,” she continued.

“I’m a size 8, I am the size that is SUPPOSED to be conventionally “attractive” (WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN BUT OK),” she fumed.

“How the F**k are people supposed to love themselves when people in the public eye of ALL sizes are being ridiculed for having normal bodies.

“I am at the end of my tether with this. STOP commenting on women’s bodies and debating whether or not we are ~allowed~ to wear bikinis. It isn’t your place. I’m a 24 year old who is healthy, happy and comfortable. Why does that irritate people?,” she posed.

The impassioned post has over 25,000 likes, with a number of high-profile names throwing their support behind the Brisbane local.

“I have no words,” posted Florence Alexandra from Matty J’s 2017 season of The Bachelor, “The DM comment section is what the depths of hell must look like. You look great and you know what’s even more attractive? That smile and confidence. Xxx.”

TV personality Julia Morris also weighed in, adding it, “Feed it don’t read it. Comments are the devil & eat away at your soul while you are not noticing. They write sh*t … content filling … click bait. You don’t need to justify being happy & confident … just be jx,” she wrote, prompting a reply from actress Rebecca Gibney.

“Couldn’t agree more,” the Gold Logie winner said.

“I stopped reading that stuff years ago @abbiechatfield. By all means call it out but haters gonna hate so just keep doing you. You’re a gorgeous smart young woman.”

It’s not the first time the star has clapped back at trolls.

Following The Bachelor finale, she was outspoken about the “slut shaming” she endured during her appearance on the reality show.

Abbie emerged as the “villain” as a result of what many viewed was an aggressive approach to winning Matt Agnew’s heart — including an incredibly racy scene on the beach, during which she told him how much she wanted to have sex with him.

Taking to Instagram with a bikini photo in the wake of the drama, Abbie blasted critics for their double standards, declaring it was “something I did not expect in 2019”.
