Are Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska still together?

Locky Gilbert has gushed over his Bachelor winner - but his unusual choice of words has some asking if he just let slip a big secret.

It’s been a rough trot for Bachelor relationships in recent seasons, so the question on everybody’s lips post this year’s Bach-finale is: Are Locky and his winning lady still together?

After an emotional final episode that saw the former Survivor star buckle over in tears as he faced breaking one woman’s heart, Locky ultimately chose Irena Srbinovska, with the two posting heartfelt messages to each other on Instagram afterwards.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Irena revealed that she’s even packed up her life in Melbourne and will move to Perth to be with Gilbert.

“I have left my job, I have left my family and friends and the only city that I have lived in,” she told the Daily Telegraph.

The loved-up couple, currently in Sydney, will spend two weeks together in hotel quarantine when they return to Locky’s home state.

Posting a selfie with his Bach winner last night, Locky made it clear the two are very much still an item - and used some unusual terms to describe her.

“I have always listened to my heart and it has lead me to this point. As hard as it was to say good bye. I was also saying hello to my future wife, baby mumma and best friend. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Here is to one crazy adventure and so so many more with you babe.”

Irena won Locky's heart in the end.

Gilbert’s reference to Irena as his “baby mumma” - note, no “future” before that term - led some fans to question in the comments whether or not Irena was pregnant.

Sharing the same image, the 31-year-old nurse wrote: “I got the man of my dreams and I couldn’t be happier. I love you so much @locklangilbert.”

In a video shared to the official Bachelor Instagram account, the pair cuddle up on a sofa and explain they’re “so excited to start our future together” before sharing a kiss.

But, as we discover every season, despite being free from their contract restraints to explore their connection out of the shadows, making a reality TV relationship work in the real world is no easy feat.

In the past year, back-to-back Bach couples Angie Kent and Carlin Sterritt, Chelsie McLeod and Matt Agnew, and Ali Oetjen and Taite Radley have all split.

Kent and Sterritt announced their break-up in July after weeks of speculation.

Former Gogglebox star Kent, 30, shared the news on Instagram, telling followers they had both been reluctant to reveal the news amid the global pandemic.

“We have not wanted to confirm until this point because there have been much bigger issues going on in the world and we’ve both been taking space to think about what we really want.

“Matters of the heart are extremely difficult and I’m sad to say that Carlin and I have broken up,” she wrote.

Whispers the pair had gone their separate ways began in early June, after suspicious Instagram activity was picked up by eagle-eyed fans.

Last month, Sterritt shed light on the reason they split, explaining it was partly due to Kent’s close friendship with runner up Timm Hanly.

And just weeks after the Bachelor 2019 finale aired, Matt Agnew and Chelsie McLeod revealed they’d gone their separate ways.

Agnew said the six months since filming ended had been a “very unique experience” but said their relationship didn’t “translate” into the outside world.

“Chels and I have made some beautiful memories together that I’ll always cherish, and I wish her nothing but the absolute best,” he wrote.

Most recently, Bachelorette Ali Oetjen filmed herself in tears over her split from Taite Radley, first announced in July, telling followers this week: “You always see happy me, this is me today & has been my daily occurrence since my break-up, it’s bloody slow healing, sadness & hurt fill my whole body.”

The video saw the reality star in tears with mascara running down her face.

Oetjen and Radley had been together for two years before their shock split this year.

While they insisted at the time that it was a mutual decision, rumours swirled that there was more to the story.

However, Radley insisted they’re still friends.

As for Locky and Irena, their newly-formed relationship comes after the adventure traveller faced a gut-wrenching decision, admitting he had fallen in love with both Bella and Irena.

During the episode, choice seemed to become too much for Locky, who was overcome with emotion as he’s forced to pick one.

“How am I meant to do it?” he wondered out aloud. “You don’t break up with someone that you love. I can’t do it.”

He ultimately picked Irena, leaving Bella heartbroken.

While their post-finale Instagram blurbs indicate no trouble in paradise, time will tell whether they last longer than Bach couples immediately before them.
