Bachelorette winner Carlin Sterritt opens up about split from Angie Kent
Angie Kent and Carlin Sterritt shocked Bachelorette fans when they split in July. Now, Carlin has finally revealed why things fell apart.
Bachelorette winner Carlin Sterritt has opened up about what led to his split from Angie Kent, revealing he felt uncomfortable with her ongoing friendship with runner-up Timm Hanly.
Speaking on Nova Entertainment’s new How To … Life podcast, Carlin, 30, said he felt insecure after watching the series in full and seeing Angie’s strong connections with fellow contestants.

He went on to say that while he tried to “play it cool” with Angie constantly texting former Bach fan favourite Timm after the show, it eventually started to affect him.
“She really cared for Timm. They were kind of messaging a little bit afterwards,” he explained.
“I was trying to play it cool, like ‘it’s fine’, you know it’s all good, and I was trying to be nice and I was trying to do the right thing. And then more and more, her and Timm messaging each other it just started to really eat me away.”
Elsewhere in the interview, he likened watching the entire season of The Bachelorette to scrolling through a partner’s dating apps.
“Being the guy that was chosen at the end, and then having to watch it all back, it bred this insecurity in me that was kind of lying dormant that I hadn’t dealt with since my ex-wife,” he said.
“I think seeing how strong some of those other connections were, I was like … ‘far out! I wasn’t really just this huge front runner’ and I did see that it was quite a hard choice.
“It’s almost as if someone has just handed you their phone their Tinder and said ‘have a scroll’.”

Carlin added that when he and Angie finally had the freedom to work on their relationship in the open post-finale, her heading straight onto a second reality TV set, Dancing With The Stars, put strain on the couple anddid little to quell his anxieties.
“Then she goes onto the next show, Dancing With The Stars with this hot Italian dude and I’m like ‘oh man this is not easy. He’s a good looking dude!’
“She would train five hours a day with this guy, five days a week and then fly to Melbourne for four days and so I’m like ‘you get to spend so much more time with this guy, I’m still feeling pretty shit about having just watched you mack-on with all these other dudes.’”
“I wasn’t ready for it. So we had a pretty difficult run,” he added.
The couple confirmed the break-up after weeks of swirling rumours back in July, with former Gogglebox star Angie, 30, sharing the news on Instagram.
She told followers they had both been reluctant to reveal the news given “there have been much bigger issues going on in the world”.
A statement on Angie’s Instagram Story read: “There’s been a lot of speculation and rumours about the status of my relationship with Carlin.
“We have not wanted to confirm until this point because there have been much bigger issues going on in the world and we’ve both been taking space to think about what we really want. “Matters of the heart are extremely difficult and I’m sad to say that Carlin and I have broken up.”
Whispers the pair had gone their separate ways began in early June, after suspicious Instagram activity was picked up by eagle-eyed fans.
