Meghan Markle’s brother Thomas Markle Jr to appear on Big Brother VIP

After far-right commentator Katie Hopkins’ Big Brother axing, a family connection of Meghan Markle’s has reportedly signed up for the Channel 7 show.

Katie Hopkins axed from Big Brother and booted from Australia

Meghan Markle’s brother is tipped to be the next surprise addition to the scandalous Big Brother VIP cast after the unceremonious exit of Katie Hopkins.

According to New Idea, Thomas Markle Jr was spotted at Sydney Airport less than a week after Hopkins was axed from the upcoming season of the Channel 7 show and deported for her behaviour in hotel quarantine.

He would have likely received a ‘critical skills’ visa in order to be granted entry to Australia amid the Covid pandemic, as many around the country remain in strict lockdown.

Given the show is due to commence filming shortly, the timing suggests Markle was brought in quickly to replace the far-right British media personality, ensuring he can complete his own 14-day quarantine in time.

New Idea is told [Markle] was spotted by numerous airport staff who were unable to get photos of their own,” the publication reported.

Markle, 55, is the estranged half-brother of the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan and Thomas Jr share the same father, Thomas Markle, and lived together in Meghan’s early years along with sister Samantha and Meghan’s mother Doria.

In 2017, he was arrested for allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a gun, however no charges were made.

A year later, ahead of his sister’s marriage to Prince Harry, Thomas Jr made headlines for imploring the Duke of Sussex to cancel the wedding because Meghan “is obviously not the right woman for you”.

He told Prince Harry in the letter that marrying Meghan would be “the biggest mistake in royal wedding history”.

Katie Hopkins deported after hotel quarantine behaviour

His rumoured addition to the cast comes after controversial British media personality Katie Hopkins was dumped from the show and deported on Tuesday after her behaviour in hotel quarantine in Sydney.

Hopkins had boasted on social media about taunting hotel guards by answering the door naked without wearing a mask – to uproar from social media users.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said Hopkins’ visa was cancelled on Monday night and she was forced on a flight back to the UK.

Other notable contestants taking part in the show include reality star Caitlyn Jenner, who flew in from LA last week and is currently in hotel quarantine.

Jenner, 71, who is running for Governor of California, has a rumoured salary of $500,000 for her appearance on the show.

Her arrival to Sydney has already sparked fury among a group representing Australians stranded abroad, who say the fact a celebrity can fly in while others struggle to is a “slap in the face”.

A Seven spokesperson told news.com.au of the Thomas Markle rumours: “We are not commenting on speculation about the cast of Big Brother VIP. All will be revealed soon and Big Brother is looking forward to meeting the new collection of housemates.

“Much of the speculation has been wrong, but it’s important to note that Seven ensures the arrival of international artists in Australia does not impact or impede on Australians returning home from overseas,” they added.

“Any international artists associated with Seven are on arrangements that exist outside of the flight cap on international arrivals and have been granted exemptions by the government to come here. All our artists also undertake quarantine measures in line with government legislation.

“Much like the arrival of world-class international actors bolstering Australia’s film industry at present, these artists are contributing to the making of leading TV productions, creating jobs for many people at a difficult time for the creative and production sectors.”
