Pete gets emotional at the thought of going home

Sunday’s elimination cook on MasterChef will leave some contestants feeling very emotional.

After a high-pressure challenge, Pete – a beloved chef on the show – is not confident in the dish he’s plating up to the judges.

While holding back tears, he says, “If it’s all over today I certainly hope I’ve made my family proud. That’s was the main thing I wanted to do coming on the show – not let my family down and be a good role model for my girls. So if this is it today, I just hope that they’re proud of me.”

The episode will have two rounds of cook offs before one contestant is sent home.

Today is an all-in elimination, except for Linda who is safely up on the gantry after winning the Immunity Challenge using some of the planet’s hottest chillies.

All week contestants have been pushed out of their comfort zones with a blind Pressure Test, limited equipment Mystery Box and some of the hottest chillies in the world. The aim of today’s challenge is to find out how well they know their ‘pheasant from their camel’.

The judges move the screen to reveal a display of 14 different cuts of game meat.

The contestants’ mouths fall open in dismay as Jock explains they have to identify as much game meat as they can – in Round 1 it’s a case of ‘name that game’.

The eight cooks with the highest scores will be safe, while the five with the lowest scores will have to cook in Round 2.

The game begins and they have five minutes to identify the various cuts of game meat.

Some of the contestants are in their element like Elise, whose boyfriend is a hunter and brings home game meat.

Others take a lot of wild guesses in the hope that they get at least some right.

Round 2 also sees fan favourite Kishwar cooking for her place in the competition.

“I’m feeling quite emotional. It means a lot to me that the judges taste what a Bengali Goat Rezala should taste like.”

To see who is sent home, tune into MasterChef at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
