MAFS star’s emotional letter mysteriously cut from show
The dramatic moment that left “everyone in tears” on set was cut from Wednesday night’s dinner party episode, it’s been revealed.
An emotional speech from one of Married At First Sight’s most controversial participants has reportedly ended up on the cutting room floor.
According to Daily Mail Australia, Tayla Winter stunned her co-stars and the show’s experts after returning for Wednesday night’s dinner party and reading out a deeply personal three-page letter.
A cast member told the publication that the speech left everyone in tears.
“Tayla barely got through the letter, she was crying her eyes out,” the source said.
“She didn’t tell anyone about it. She just pulled the letter from underneath her dress and began reading it out.
“It was a deeply personal letter, and it explained why she would always keep her guard up.
“Tayla was very raw and vulnerable … it was a side that none of the cast had seen from her.
“It was tough for everyone. The cast were in tears and ran over to comfort her.”
The insider added: “The letter changed the way how the cast treated and looked at her … she had new-found respect when she returned to the show for the reunion.”
During Wednesday night’s episode, Tayla made an unexpected return to the show after storming out of Sunday night’s commitment ceremony and declaring she was “going back to Tassie”.
Pulling her “husband” Hugo Armstrong aside for a chat, Tayla admitted she had flown interstate without his knowledge – but was now ready to give their relationship a go.
However, despite choosing ‘stay’ during Sunday’s ceremony, Hugo had since changed his mind and the pair were shown letting their castmates know they were leaving the experiment.
It comes after Yahoo Lifestyle claimed that, following the commitment ceremony, Tayla had acted on her on-air threat to leave the show once cameras stopped rolling, and had to be begged by producers to return.
During the fiery ceremony, Tayla was grilled by relationship expert John Aiken on whether or not she actually liked Hugo.
“Tayla, do you think your behaviour towards Hugo suggests you like him?” he asked her.
“I do like Hugo,” she responded, prompting him to double down.
“Does your behaviour towards Hugo give him a sense that you even like him a little bit?” he repeated.
“Why am I getting the bad rap right now?” Tayla asked, visibly annoyed. “I truly feel like I’ve made a bit more of an effort than Hugo.”
Hugo then jumped in to admit he was actually afraid of her: “I’m literally just flailing around, kind of terrified.”
