Charlotte Crosby reveals the truth about her I’m A Celeb ‘showmance’

It’s been the biggest question dogging this season of I’m A Celeb: Are star-crossed lovers Charlotte Crosby and Ryan Gallagher for real?

I’m A Celeb’s latest evictee, UK reality TV veteran Charlotte Crosby, may have fallen short of winning the show – but she’s left the jungle with a possible new relationship.

Crosby and former Married At First Sight contestant Ryan Gallagher’s mutual attraction has been one of the biggest storylines this season despite accusations it was all a “showmance” for the cameras.

Speaking to news.com.au from South Africa the morning after her eviction, Crosby scoffed at the suggestion her interest in Gallagher was anything but genuine.

“I find it so strange when people say it’s not genuine. If two people go into a camp who are single and attracted to each other, what’s not genuine about that? You think we’re supposed to not speak or flirt because it might be conceived as a ‘showmance’? Ryan is a massively attractive man, AND he’s single, so why on earth would I not go there?” she said.

In one of this season’s more cringe-worthy scenes, Gallagher even offered to start a new life in Crosby’s native UK after I’m A Celeb had finished – an offer she quickly shot down. Was he more interested in pursuing things than her?

“I don’t think that’s the case at all,” said Crosby, who announced her split with fellow reality star Josh Ritchie mere weeks before entering the jungle. “I was very wary of jumping into another relationship very fast. I’ve only just come out of a two-year relationship, moving in with a boyfriend for a first time. I’d only been finished with him for like four weeks, so I was very wary and being cautious. Whereas with Ryan, he’s been single for like four years. We both like each other exactly the same, it’s just that he was more ready than me. I was still healing, while he was ready to go.

“But we’re together now, we’re going to spend an amazing three days in South Africa, and I’m coming to Australia for a month in February. That’s really exciting.”

And Crosby said she wasn’t too tempted to go back and watch her new beau’s stint on Australia’s most controversial dating show.

“I did say that I should watch (MAFS), and he said, ‘Oh god, please don’t watch it’. But Tom (Williams) did tell me that Ryan was really loved on there and he did really well, so I don’t think I’ll go back and watch it … I think that’s all I need.”
