After a very tumultuous year – including a high profile split and a drink driving charge – personal trainer and TV star Michelle Bridges shared some heartfelt truths about her current circumstances during a recent interview.

Speaking with Seven’s The Morning Show, the 49-year-old had some personal experiences to share with hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gilles.

“It’s been a challenging year for me, there’s no question about that,” Bridges said. “And I’m so grateful for the people around me, my close friends and my close family.

“If you want to talk about real worth, then you look around at the people that are there for you during the good, the bad, the ugly.”

The TV personality didn’t shy away in saying that the last few months have served up some serious curve balls – but Bridges is a fighter.

“The other thing is, when your life throws all these curve balls at you – and that’s called life and it’s going to happen – it’s very easy to get caught up in it and let it drag you away from who you are intrinsically,” she reflected.

“Remember, you have all the answers and everything that you need inside of you, and that’s what I’ve been remembering.”

Her words showed just how far Bridges has come, a far cry from the very first interview she had after her personal life began to make headlines.

After issuing a “heartfelt apology” to those she let down with her drink driving conviction in January this year, Bridges spoke to Stellar’s editor-in-chief Sarrah Le Marquand for her first sit-down-interview in late March.

“I suppose on the outside looking in, I seemed my happy, usual self. But privately I was going through a pretty stressful time on a personal level, coming to terms with my relationship breakdown,” she revealed, describing the aftermath as “the hardest two months of my life”.

“I’m now trying to navigate a new life for myself going forward. Yeah, it feels different, it feels strange, and, yep, there are moments that I look around and think, ‘Can I do this?’.”

Morning Show viewers caught a glimpse of a happier, more confident Bridges on the show, as she explained her shift in focus and the joy she takes from caring for her young son, Axel.

“It’s back to me, back to what I need to do as a human, what I need to do to look after another human, and the important factors of that,” she said on the video call.

“And not letting other people or other things drag me away from that one true important thing.”
