Eric Dane breaks down in first TV interview since ALS diagnosis

Grey’s Anatomy heart throb Eric Dane has broken down in his first TV interview since going public with a life-altering diagnosis.

Star's emotional first interview since diagnosis

Eric Dane fought back tears in his first interview since receiving his “crushing” amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis in April.

“I wake up every day and I’m immediately reminded that this is happening,” the actor said in a teaser clip for his Good Morning America interview, which was shared today.

“It’s not a dream,” journalist Diane Sawyer told Dane, which he repeated back.

“I don’t think this is the end of my story. I don’t feel like this is the end of me,” the actor continued elsewhere in the interview.

At one point, Sawyer leaned in to Dane, referencing his ALS diagnosis as she asked him, “Who was your first call?”

He then appeared emotional as he lowered his head before he could give an answer. Dane’s complete interview is scheduled to air on Monday.

Dane, 52, revealed he was diagnosed with ALS in April — just weeks after he called off his divorce from wife Rebecca Gayheart.

“I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” the actor told People, asking for privacy for himself and his family during the difficult time.

The former Grey’s Anatomy star also shared that he would be returning to his role as Cal Jacobs in Euphoria for Season 3 of the HBO series amid his battle with the neurodegenerative disease.

Dane was spotted out and about in Los Angeles days after sharing the tragic news with a friend.

Gayheart filed to divorce Dane in February 2018 due to irreconcilable differences and requested joint custody of their children Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13.

However, she appeared to have a recent change of heart as she filed documents to have the petition dismissed in March.
