IT’S not just winter that’s coming.
HBO has released a chilling season six teaser trailer for Game of Thrones, featuring the disembodied faces of characters — living and dead.
The camera slowly moves through the eerie House of Black and White before focusing on the blank dials of Eddard, Catelyn and Robb Stark, and King Joffrey.
The camera also settles on the face of Jon Snow, who was stabbed at the end of last season, revisiting the ambiguous fate of the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.
However, more confusing is the presence of Tyrion Lannister in the Hall of Faces, as he was alive in season five. (The clip also shows some other famous faces.)
The short clip recites snippets of famous lines from the beloved characters, suggesting they may reappear in some way in the new season.
— Ned: “The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword.”
— Rob: “I’ve won every battle but I’m losing this war.”
— Catelyn: “Show them how it feels to lose what they love.”
— Joffrey: “Everyone is mine to torment.”
— Jon (as the camera hovers over Tyrion’s face): “The long night is coming and the dead come with it.”
The trailer comes after HBO released a number of photos from the upcoming season, showing most of the major characters and offering fans scraps of material with which to speculate.
Game of Thrones Season 6 hits screens on April 24.
