Temuera Morrison joins Aquaman cast as test footage reveals Jason Momoa swimming on ocean floor
KIWI actor Temuera Morrison has joined the cast of Aquaman as producer Zack Snyder treats fans to their first look at star Jason Momoa swimming on the ocean’s floor as the King of Atlantis.
ONCE Were Warriors star Temuera Morrison will play Aquaman’s father in the latest blockbuster movie being filmed on the Gold Coast.
The New Zealand veteran has joined the cast of the DC blockbuster as one of Aquaman’s producers has given fans their first look at star Jason Momoa swimming on the ocean floor as Aquaman, the king of Atlantis.
Test footage filmed on February 27 and posted online earlier this month by Justice League director and Aquaman producer Zack Snyder shows a fishtailed Momoa swimming along the bottom of the sea towards someone on a throne.
Cameras are due to begin rolling on the first stand-alone film about Aquaman at Village Roadshow Studios in early April.

The film will tell the story of Arthur Curry, who learns he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and must step forward to lead his people as Aquaman, a hero to the world.
Morrison will play Aquaman and his half-brother Orm’s dad, lighthouse keeper Thomas Curry, with director James Wan rumoured to have cast Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s water-breathing mum, Atlanna.
Morrison, 56, is best known for his award-winning portrayal of violent father Jake ‘The Muss’ Heke in the confronting New Zealand drama Once Were Warriors.
He earned a new legion of fans after playing bounty hunter Jango Fett in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones and Commander Cody in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith.
Morrison also provided the voice of the clone troopers in both of the Star Wars films and voiced the character of Chief Tui in Disney’s recent animated hit Moana.

Momoa, who will appear as Aquaman in the upcoming Justice League movie, due out in November, told The Hollywood Reporter one of the most challenging parts of joining the DC Extended Universe was not being able to tell anyone about the role for months.
“I knew I had the role in late 2012 or early 2013,” he says.
“I was trying to get any role I could and not having much luck.
“So, knowing what your future is going to be in the next five or six years and having to keep your mouth shut is brutal.”
Aquaman will now open in US cinemas on December 21 next year during the peak Christmas holiday box-office season instead of its previously scheduled release date of October 5, 2018,

The date change will pit the DC Comics film against Marvel’s new Spider-Man movie from Sony Animation, also due for release on December 21, 2018.
James Cameron’s Avatar sequel was also expected to open on December 21, 2018, but Cameron has now ruled out a 2018 release date for the film.
