Deryck Whibley has apologised to Australia just weeks after the legendary rockers were forced to cancel their tour Down Under.

Sum 41 has apologised after they were forced to cancel their final ever tour in Australia.

Due to Deryck Whibley’s latest bout of pneumonia, the music legends were forced to miss the three-city Good Things festival in December.

It came as a huge blow to the band’s fans, who were excited to see the group on what they had touted as their final-ever tour dates in Australia.

In a new apology video, singer Deryck Whibley shared his heartbreak at the band being forced to cancel at the last minute.

“This is the part that I hate – the fact that we had to miss shows, miss festivals … all I can say is, I’m so sorry,” the singer said.

“I’m so sorry for all the places we couldn’t get to and the shows we couldn’t make. There were festivals in Australia, Mexico, and Canada that we unfortunately – we tried everything we could – obviously, in Australia, it was very public [that] I had pneumonia.

“I was there, I did my best, I made it there … Unfortunately, we couldn’t move any of those shows, because they were festivals.

He added: “All I can say – and it’s still not enough – but sincerely, I’m so sorry. We really wanted to play; it just really fell out of our control, and I can’t say sorry enough. But I’m truly sorry.”

The band first broke the news in December, just hours ahead of their first scheduled show.

“It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce our 2024 Australian tour is unable to proceed. We were beyond excited to deliver this tour from December 4 – December 12, and connect with our Aussie fans once more,” said the band.

“Now that we’re here though, and under the guidance and direction of multiple Australian doctors, it’s clear that Deryck is too unwell to perform. We understand and appreciate your disappointment – we’re gutted too.”

The statement continued: “The good news is Good Things Festival is still going ahead in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this weekend with an incredible line-up of local and international acts. We can’t be there, but get along for us and have the best time.

It marked the second time this happened Down Under.

Aussie fans also missed out in 2011 when the band missed their slot at the Soundwave music festival after Whibley was hospitalised with pneumonia.
