Fans stunned by Sabrina Carpenter’s unrecognisable new look
This pop star has debuted a bold new look on the cover of Vogue - but the photos have some fans in disbelief that it’s really her.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has stunned fans with her unrecognisable new Vogue cover shoot - but she’s been given the seal of approval by the person she’s channelling, Queen of Pop Madonna.
Carpenter appears on the cover of the latest issue of Vogue Magazine, photographed by legendary snapper Steven Meisel - best known for his work with Madonna, particularly in the early 90s.
Carpenter’s look is a clear homage to the Madonna of 1990 - 1991: Dark brows, platinum blonde curls, and a cone bra minidress.
And Madonna herself has the most-liked comment under Carpenter’s Instagram post revealing the mag cover: “Is this a Valentines present to me?”
The Madonna homage continues inside the latest issue of Vogue, with more photos showing Carpenter recreating the pop icon’s style from her early 90s halcyon days, when Vogue and The Immaculate Collection were riding high in the charts and the Blond Ambition world tour was breaking records.
While the Madonna homage isn’t a massive departure from Carpenter’s usual style, there’s no denying she looks very different in the Vogue shoot - one could be forgiven for thinking the photos show Madonna’s own model daughter, Lourdes, donning a blonde wig to pay tribute to her mum.
So dramatic is the transformation, some fans questioned whether it really was Carpenter in the photos.
“That is Sabrina? It surely does not look like her,” reads one top-rated comment under Vogue’s post.
“And Sabrina is here with us?” another person quipped.
“It’s a beautiful picture but doesn’t look like Sabrina,” one complained, while another joked that the cover was a result of “Madonna taking The Substance.”
This isn’t the first time recent Grammy-winner Carpenter has tipped her hat to the Queen of Pop.
Last September, she attended the MTV Video Music Awards in an archival Bob Mackie gown - the very same dress Madonna had worn to the 1991 Academy Awards, where she brought Michael Jackson as her date before performing the Dick Tracy ballad Sooner or Later on stage.
Carpenter, 25, has a Valentine’s Day treat in store for her fans this week.

On Friday she’ll release a deluxe edition of her breakthrough album Short n’ Sweet with five new songs, among them a duet version of her hit Please Please Please featuring Dolly Parton.
Home to smash hits Espresso and Taste, Short n’ Sweet kick-started Carpenter’s career and earned her a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album last week.
But this “overnight success” has actually been releasing music for a decade, including five previous studio albums, since she first found fame as a teen Disney Channel actress back in 2014.
