The Kid Laroi leaves massive tip after accidental dine-and-dash
Aussie rapper The Kid Laroi has forked out an impressive tip for a waitress after he unintentionally left a restaurant without paying the bill.
Aussie rapper The Kid Laroi has attempted to make amends with a Springfield, Missouri, restaurant after reportedly leaving the eatery without paying the bill.
The 19-year-old was accused of leaving his waitress empty-handed at Dublin’s Pass Irish Pub & Restaurant on Tuesday after allegedly dining-and-dashing on a bill totalling $US133.58 (roughly $200).
After TMZ reported the incident, Laroi – whose real name is Charlton Howard – and his team reached out to restaurant staffers within hours to rectify the situation.
They explained there was a miscommunication as the Aussie musician’s security team was supposed to cover the tab but somehow forgot to pay.
Laroi’s reps have since paid the outstanding amount and also reportedly tipped the waitress $US2500 ($3735) as an apology.
The Sydney-born rapper was in Missouri to perform at the Great Southern Bank Arena, where he sang his hit songs Stay, Love Again and Thousand Miles.
Following the gig, Laroi and his friends hit up the restaurant, ordering cheeseburgers, chicken wings, mac and cheese and brownies.
The restaurant’s manager, Autumn Gray, told TMZ that Laroi and his entourage were seated at a table in a private room. Gray recalled the group being friendly to staff and restaurant guests, and even posed for pictures with fans.
But they reportedly took frequent cigarette breaks outside, causing their waitress to fear they’d make a run for it without paying.
They assured her they wouldn’t so it came a surprise when she returned to the table later to discover the party had left the establishment without clearing the bill. However, Gray and the restaurant understand that it was an honest mistake on the rapper’s part.
Laroi – who was raised in the Sydney suburb of Redfern – began rapping from the age of 12 and hustled for years until record producers and the music industry took notice.
In 2019, after being praised by late rap icon Juice Wrld, Laroi burst into the international music scene and has since won two ARIAs and five Billboard Music Awards.
He has also been nominationed for two Grammy Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards.
