Rapper 50 Cent hurls mic into crowd in frustrated rage, leaves fan with gruesome head injury
Rapper 50 Cent threw a broken microphone into the audience at his latest concert, leaving one fan with a severe head injury.
A frustrated 50 Cent hurled a broken microphone into the audience at his latest concert and left one fan with a gruesome head injury.
Production handed the In Da Club rapper several broken mics throughout his performance at the Crypto.com arena in LA on Wednesday, and it appeared to take a toll on him just as he joined rapper YG on stage.
Footage of the violent moment shows 50 Cent taking the mic and launching it into the crowd, reports Page Six.
Although the video does not show where the device landed, Power 106 host radio Bryhana Monegain says it hit her square in the forehead, causing a gruesome injury.
In photos obtained by TMZ, it appears doctors stitched up the wound and wrapped her forehead with plenty of gauze.
Reps for the Power actor, 48, and radio host didn’t immediately return Page Six’s requests for comment.
A source connected to 50, meanwhile, told TMZ that Monegain wasn’t meant to be in the restricted section, although it’s unclear how that excuses his decision to throw the microphone into the crowd.
Monegain also filed a police report on Wednesday night, the outlet reported, and the Window Shopper performer has been named a criminal battery suspect.
Fellow rapper Cardi B found herself in similar trouble after she chucked her microphone at a fan who splashed her with a liquid while she was performing in Las Vegas in July.
The mic ricocheted off an object and ultimately hit another person standing near the perpetrator. The victim filed a police report, but the WAP performer was cleared.
Days later, the mic made its way to eBay, where it was being auctioned for charity.
Scott Fisher — whose company provided audio support for the show, as well as a lot of the nightclubs in Sin City — sold the mic to the person who bid $US99,900 ($154,000).
Fisher further claimed that, after being “encouraged” to sell the mic, he wanted to “try to do something good”.
Fans will just have to wait and see if 50 Cent’s mic ends up on the auction site.
