Madonna pays tribute to ‘survivor’ Kylie Minogue as the pair perform onstage together

Madonna paid tribute to Kylie Minogue before inviting her onstage to perform two iconic hits together.

Madonna paid tribute to “survivor” and “fighter” Kylie Minogue onstage on Thursday night before kicking off a performance that’s been more than two decades in the making.

Madonna, 65, welcomed fellow pop icon Minogue, 55, to the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles during the latest stop of her Celebration Tour.

The superstars joined forces to throw it all the way back to the disco era, performing a duet of Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 anthem, I Will Survive. They also performed Minogue’s 2001 hit, Can’t Get You Out of My Head.

Madonna has previously revealed herself to be a huge fan of Minogue’s, and famously once wore a T-shirt with the Aussie singer’s name emblazoned across it during a TV performance back in 2000.

Returning the favour more than two decades later, Minogue took to the stage on Thursday night wearing a similarly styled T-shirt, but this time with Madonna’s name written across the front.

“On the subject of survival, I would like to introduce a very special guest who is going to come up here and sing with me. Her name is Kylie Minogue,” said Madonna, causing the audience to erupt into applause.

“Now this is what we call a survivor OK!” yelled Madonna. “It’s a privilege to be up here with you, you are a fighter as well. Never give up!”

“This moment has been a long, long, long time coming,” said Minogue.

Minogue later shared a TikTok of herself dancing in the audience to Madonna’s 1998 hit Ray of Light.

“MADONNA! It’s been a long time coming!!! LOVED being with you!!!! Celebration Tour AND it is now International Women’s Day …. THANK YOU and LOVE LOVE LOVE @madonna,” she wrote.

It’s been an incredible year for Minogue, who recently scored her second ever Grammy and has returned to the top of the charts around the world.

Last July marked 35 years since Minogue released her debut album Kylie, which topped the charts in Australia, the UK, Europe and beyond for weeks in 1988.
