Filming on the highly anticipated Freak Friday 2 is underway – and fans were given a first look at Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as they reprise their roles in the hit movie.
The pair reunited in a sweet photo taken 21 year since the beloved movie premiered in 2003.
In a clip and video shared by Disney, the stars are sat outside their trailer looking happy and holding hands as they marked the first day back on set in LA on Tuesday.
“The band’s back together and coming to theatres in 2025,” read the caption on a TikTok video shared by the studio. “The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!”
Lohan also shared the photo on her socials, with the caption, “We’re back!” Meanwhile, Curtis wrote, “WE ARE FREAKING OUT because the Coleman’s are getting FREAKY AGAIN!” as she shared the same image.
In the movie, Curtis and Lohan are back in their respective roles as Tess and Anna Coleman – mother and daughter who swap bodies and later learn to appreciate life in the other’s shoes.
Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray will also reprise their roles in sequel.
No details have been revealed yet regarding the plot of the new movie, but that didn’t stop fans from going crazy over the new photo and video.
“This should be fun,” one tweeted, while another said: “freaky friday 2 has the ability to heal my entire soul and I’m so excited for it.”
Even celebs like Rita Ora are living for it: “Oh my god how is this real life,” she commented.
Last year, when Freaky Friday celebrated its 20th anniversary, Curtis and Lohan reunited for an interview to express their excitement for a second film, which fans have been begging for over the years.
“As I went around the world [promoting] Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday. Something really touched a chord,” Curtis told People magazine last May.
“When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”
Lindsay added: “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be. “We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”
Later that month, Disney announced there would indeed be a second instalment of the cult classic.
