Sam Frost has revealed why she decided to leave Home And Away.

The 32-year-old Australian reality star turned actress played the character Jasmine Delaney for five years.

However, last month it was revealed Frost will no longer be part of the Channel 7 soap cast after deciding to part ways.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared on Friday, Frost reflected on her departure from the show, explaining it was due to mental health reasons.

“I quit my dream job at Home And Away to look after my mental health,” she wrote on mental health awareness Instagram page, Believe by Sam Frost.

“I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family. And most importantly take good care of my health and well-being.”

“I now spend the days with the people I love, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because I was too busy working.”

She went on to say that she had spent four and a half years being a “distant friend, a distant girlfriend, a sister who couldn’t be there for big milestone moments”.

“Now, I’m making up for lost time. I’m prioritising my health and my relationships.”

Frost admitted she sometimes wakes up and panics about “money, work and being able to afford my mortgage”.

“[But] then I remind myself the importance of putting our mental health first, and taking time out to heal our mind, body & soul. The rest will fall into place.”

She concluded the post with the hashtag “healing”.

Frost detailed her reason for leaving the show after sharing an inspirational comment about Australian Open winner Ash Barty and her decision several years ago to take a break from tennis.

The Daily Telegraph reported Frost will move to Melbourne. It comes as the Seven network gave employees until November to get vaccinated against Covid.

The soap star and former Bachelorette revealed in an emotional video on her Instagram last October she had not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

She said she “could get into trouble” for revealing her stance on the vaccine, but pleaded for “compassion” and “empathy” for those who have made the same decision as her

The backlash came quickly and Frost shut down her social media accounts temporarily. Her name trended in Australia for several days.

Since then, Frost announced she would be getting the jab but would not be fully vaccinated until February.

But a matter of weeks later she quit the show.

Frost is set to launch a self-help book about mental health called Believe by Sam Frost in March.
