MAFS star Timothy Smith ‘detains teen with machete’ in Melbourne: ‘I’m going to cut you’
A former Married At First Sight star chased down a 14-year-old who allegedly tried to carjack a woman in Melbourne.
Former Married At First Sight Australia star Timothy Smith performed a dramatic citizen’s arrest on a teenage boy allegedly armed with a knife.
Police arrested a teenager who was allegedly armed with a machete after the MAFS star chased down the 14-year-old, who is claimed to have been attempting to carjack a woman with another teenager.
Smith was at his campaign office when he said he heard screams nearby and saw about five teenagers run past at 3pm on Friday.
“I was out the front talking to my campaign manager and then we heard some screams. Some guys came by, one with a machete, and I gave chase to the one with a machete,” Smith alleged on Jacqui Felgate’s 3AW Drive.
“They were waving them around. As I was running behind him he kept yelling ‘I’m gonna cut you’ but he wasn’t stopping,” continued the reality star.
Smith went on to claim that the teenager burst into tears after realising he was about to be arrested.
“No injuries, thankfully,” added the star. “He was young. When they have a knife in their hand they’re very confident. But once that knife’s gone the tears start. But how’s that lady gonna feel? That’s traumatic. His tears don’t do anything for me.”
When asked if he was in fear of his own life, Smith said he was more concerned with the crime wave that’s struck Melbourne in recent months.
“I’m more annoyed with seeing this on the news day after day, week after week, it just pissed me off. I want to make a change,” he added of his decision to run as an Independent MP.
