Noughties rocker Pete Doherty spotted looking unrecognisable in Sydney
A very controversial British rocker, who famously dated Kate Moss in the 2000s, has been spotted looking unrecognisable in Aus.
Infamous 2000s British rocker Pete Doherty has been spotted looking very different in Sydney.
Doherty, who famously filled the headlines back in the day while dating Kate Moss between 2005 and 2007, was seen wearing a smart blazer with a fedora and cravat, which he bizarrely paired with some Simpson’s slippers.
The musician left his hotel to grab some cigarettes from a CBD tobacco shop in Sydney’s CBD.
Doherty is due to perform with his band, The Libertines, in Sydney this weekend.
The band’s three gigs on the East Coast mark the first time The Libertines have performed on Aussie soil in seven years, and their second ever tour Down Under.
The Libertines will play their Sydney show at Enmore Theatre on April 12, followed by The Forum in Melbourne on April 17, and Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on April 18.
When the shows were announced last year, the band sparked backlash from fans in Perth and Adelaide who were left disappointed about missing out.
Earlier this year, Doherty revealed that he had been warned by doctors that he could lose his toes.
He told fans onstage in Munich, Germany, in February: “I saw the doctor today and he said you need to stay off your feet as much as you can otherwise you’ll lose your toes.”
The recovering addict was previously diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
Doherty opened up about his health struggles during an interview with The Guardian’s Saturday magazine in 2024: “I gave up the main poisons and my health improved.
“Then you get told alcohol and cheese and sugar are just as bad and you were healthier when you were on heroin.”
Confirming his diagnosis, he said: “It’s not a joke. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. And at the moment I’m lacking the discipline to tackle cholesterol.”
He previously opened up about doctors warning him that he was “risking death” with his unhealthy lifestyle.
“They told me a little while ago if you don’t change your diet then you’re gonna have diabetes and cholesterol problems. Death’s lurking, you know what I mean?” he said.
