Troye Sivan’s dad could have died after being shot in head with nail gun
Troye Sivan has revealed the horrifying moment his dad came millimetres from death after he was shot in the head with a nail gun.
Australian pop star Troye Sivan has revealed his father was millimetres away from death after being shot with a nail gun earlier this year.
The singer, who recently performed a run of sellout shows in his hometown of Perth, revealed on Thursday night’s episode of The Project that he felt blessed to have been able to have his entire family with him at the ARIAs earlier this week.
He explained that earlier this year his father had a brush with death after being shot with a nail gun, and having a five-centimetre nail lodged in his brain.
“It’s so crazy, actually. He got shot in the head with a nail gun and a five-centimetre nail went into his brain. He had to have emergency surgery and he’s completely fine, but it’s honestly a miracle. There is an X-ray … isn’t that crazy?”
“Holy s**t. That’s terrifying!” said The Project’s Rove McManus as he stared at the X-ray image in disbelief.
His story comes after the 2024 ARIA Awards, where Sivan took home two of the night’s biggest awards - and closed the show with a hilariously candid Album of the Year speech.
“This album has completely changed my life,” Sivan gushed as he accepted the award at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. “It was inspired by the moments between lockdowns in Melbourne. I was single and really depressed and lonely, and … I just started to go out and hook up with random people.”
In a speech that drew laughs from the star-studded audience, Sivan told the story of meeting a beau in a one-night stand and centring the album around that singular experience. “We had this incredible connection … and I started to realise how many people there are in the world, and how incredible connection of all kinds can feel,” Sivan said.
“Go have a one-night stand with someone, you never know what could happen!”
It marked the end of another big year for the singer, after he lead the 2023 Arias with four awards.
