Fans of Jessica Simpson are once more expressing their concern for the singer’s wellbeing, after she looked noticeably thin in her latest photos posted to Instagram.

Simpson, 42, posed with her husband and children for some sweet photos as the family celebrated Valentine’s Day – but her post was soon flooded with hundreds of comments, with some fans asking if the singer is OK while others defended her.

“CLEARLY!! something IS wrong,” one fan wrote.

“That can’t be her... She looks like a completely different person!”wrote another follower.

“Why does she look so different?” another fan asked.

But others rushed to Simpson’s defence, with one fan writing: “This girl cannot win with anyone. She has always been gorgeous no matter what her size.”

“If she was heavier they’d talk. She’s thinner they are still talking! Leave her alone!” said another fan.

Simpson – who famously lost 45kg post-pregnancy with the help of a nutritionist several years ago – spoke out about the attention her weight loss has received in a recent Instagram post.

“The most important thing I have learned through the last 5yrs without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it. I am capable of pretty much anything I care enough about to put my mind to,” wrote Simpson, who had opened up about her previous struggles with alcohol in her memoir Open Book.

“I feel compassion for the opinionated hate that some people can so effortlessly just blurt out with such intensity on social media or in the media in general.”

“As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise … peoples’ comments and judgments [sic] can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging “you will never be good enough”,” she continued.

Concerns about Simpson’s health were first sparked by a selfie she posted last March, with many pointing out she looked “gaunt”.

She quit alcohol in 2017, sharing an “unrecognisable” throwback photo of herself last year which showed her during the depths of alcohol addiction, as she marked four years of sobriety.“This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognisable version of myself. I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore,” she captioned the photo, which shows her makeup-free and seemingly crying while wearing a pink tracksuit.

“I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.”

Simpson spent her Valentine’s Day with husband Eric Johnson and their three children: Maxwell, 10, Ace, 9, and Birdie, 3.
