‘Are you OK?’: Fans worried by Jessica Simpson’s latest selfie
Fans are voicing their concerns for Jessica Simpson, many claiming they couldn’t even recognise the singer in her latest post.
Scrolling through the comment section on Jessica Simpson’s Instagram you’ll usually find plenty of fire or love heart eyes emojis, with fans declaring how perfect the singer is.
But one selfie this week, showing the singer looking thin and drawn, triggered quite the opposite reaction from many fans, who flooded the comment section with messages of concern.
Posing in black pants and a jumper, large sunglasses and a hat, the 41-year-old asked her 5.8 million followers: “Tried something new with my fav bandana and my son’s Boston hat … trend worthy? Maybe”.
The comments were quickly flooded with concerned comments.
“What happened with her omg,” read one top-rated comment.
“Omg is that Jessica Simpson? What happened????” wrote one user, attracting hundreds of likes.
“Her face looks super thin, I hope she’s OK,” said another.
While, one user asked Simpson directly: “Are you OK?????”
“You are very thin, everything okay?” wrote another.
Simpson famously lost 45kg in six months after giving birth to daughter Birdie Mae, revealing her transformation on Instagram in September 2019.
The mum-of-three revealed that she was 109kg before the weight loss.
“So proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder,” she wrote at the time.
Her comments then were filled with fans saying she was an inspiration and looked amazing.
Since then, Simpson’s physique has remained a headline-grabber with stories about her diet and exercise routine, and praise for keeping the weight off.
Simpson’s personal trainer Harley Pasternak has said the goal for the star was for a cleaner, healthier lifestyle and not about weight.
Speaking to People in September 2019, Pasternak said he never works with scales.
“My work with her is more about the habits she’s created and kept up. Every night before she goes to bed she sends an email showing that she hit all five tasks, so she’ll go to bed feeling successful. She’s hit her step goal, she’s eaten well, she’s balanced her responsibilities — so she can go to bed with a sense of fulfilment, and that’s everything. And as a by-product of doing these habits, she lost 100lbs (45kg),” he said.
Last November, Simpson shocked fans with another near-unrecognisable photo posted to her Instagram - this time, it was a throwback photo of herself during the depths of her alcohol addiction, posted to mark four years of sobriety.
