Jessica Simpson’s huge fortune you never knew about

Jessica Simpson has a huge net worth that is almost twenty times larger than her NFL husband’s … here is how she got it.

The Latest: 2020 in entertainment

Jessica Simpson has always been very candid with her fans about her life, however, the extent of her fortune might come as a surprise to some.

So what led to the star’s huge net worth?

As a teenager, Simpson sold millions with Columbia Records signing her and releasing her first studio album Sweet Kisses in 1999. The album was a huge success, selling over four million copies worldwide.

Jessica saw similar success with her second album Irressistable in 2001. It was even gold certified by the Recording Industry Association, however it was her third album In This Skin released in 2003 which sold seven million copies.

Later, Simpson turned to reality TV, after marrying ex-husband Nick Lachey in 2002.

The couple starred in MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica from 2003-2005.

It was in 2006 when Jessica filed for divorce, claiming to Billboard that her marriage was her biggest money mistake.

In 2012 and 2013, she starred as a judge and mentor on Fashion Star, as IMDB claims.

It was Jessica Simpson’s move to the big screen that then brought in a lot of cash.

The star went on to appear as Daisy Duke in the film adaptation of The Dukes of Hazzard, which later led to her hit single These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ which landed her a spot in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. The film grossed more than US$80 million (A$111 million) reportsBox Office Mojo.

One of Simpson’s biggest successes comes in the form of fashion, not singing or acting.

In 2005, Simpson launched The Jessica Simpson Collection, which was suited for the average woman, all sizes and ages included. It was an incredible move by her, with her brand raking in over US$1 billion (A$1.3 billion) revenue per annum, as Business of Fashion reports.

Something that has caught the interest of a lot of fans recently is Jessica’s weight-loss journey. However, she has also made money from it, after signing with Weight Watchers.

In 2012 the star partnered with WW after shedding her baby weight, which earned her US$4 million (A$5.5 million).

Not only did she capitalise on her weight loss, but she used her pregnancy to her advantage too, launching a maternity line for her fashion collection, along with a fragrance called Vintage Bloom after giving birth to her son Eric Johnson.

But that isn’t all the superstar has dabbled in. Jessica has also made her way into interior design.

In 2013, Simpson created a range of interior decoration items the same year her son Ace Knute Johnson was born, available at Bed Bath & Beyond as Business of Fashion reports.

She also created a range of workout clothing.

“Here’s to the next billion,” she said in a statement.

This year, she launched her memoir Open Book. She had signed over 14,000 books ahead of its launch. The book was selling for $20 a pop, meaning she had already made US$280,000 (A$390,000).
