Jessica Simpson has taken to Instagram addressing ongoing scrutiny after concerns intensified due to her increasingly “frail” appearance.

Jessica Simpson has taken the rare step of addressing ongoing scrutiny about her appearance.

The US singer, 42, took to social media with a lengthy message about “incessant” criticism, after fan’s fears intensified following her post last week – a video ad for Pottery Barn Kids.

It garnered thousands of comments about her weight loss, with one fan writing, “Something is wrong here,” while another said, “Is she OK?”

Seemingly addressing the matter, Simpson posted a video of herself singing on Instagram alongside a lengthy caption, explaining she had been spending time in her music studio to “ground” herself in a bid to block out “destructive noise”.

“As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise … peoples’ comments and judgments [sic] can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging “you will never be good enough”,” Simpson wrote.

“The most important thing I have learned through the last 5yrs without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it. I am capable of pretty much anything I care enough about to put my mind to.

“After grounding myself just now with my voice and the lyrics across my heart, I feel compassion for the opinionated hate that some people can so effortlessly just blurt out with such intensity on social media or in the media in general.”

Fears for Simpson’s health first kicked off with a selfie she posted in March, with many pointing out she looked “gaunt”.

And then, in April, she raised eyebrows for a video in which she appeared to be “disoriented”.

The star put a clip on her Instagram Stories at the time to plug the nasal spray Flonase, while also promoting the product with a photo on her page.

Users flooded the comments section of the photo, saying her eyes were “all over the place” in the video, as they expressed concerns about her “slurred” speech.

The Dukes of Hazzard star has made some major lifestyle changes in recent years, having lost a reported 45kg in six months after the birth of her daughter Birdie Mae in 2019.

She also quit alcohol in 2017, sharing an “unrecognisable” throwback photo of herself last year which showed her during the depths of alcohol addiction, as she marked four years of sobriety.

“This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognisable version of myself. I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore,” she captioned the photo, which shows her makeup-free and seemingly crying while wearing a pink tracksuit.

“I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.”
