Amanda Bynes has been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold for the second time this year.

Page Six reports that over the weekend the former Nickelodeon star was detained by police and taken into custody for a mental health evaluation – which she seemingly failed, according to TMZ.

The outlet also reported that Bynes, 37, had been the one to call the cops for help.

On Monday, sources told the outlet that the former child star was deemed a danger to herself and those around her.

Now that Bynes is on a mandatory psychiatric hold, she can be held for up to 72 hours by law.

Reps for the former actress did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

This is the second time the actress has been placed on a psychiatric hold this year. In March, Bynes was found roaming the streets of LA naked.

She allegedly flagged down a car and told the driver she was coming down from a psychiatric episode before calling the cops.

At the time, sources told TMZ that Bynes had likely been living “on the streets for days”.

The starlet’s ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, also told Page Six that she had probably been “off her meds”.

The actress remained hospitalised for nearly three weeks before being released and starting outpatient treatment.

Bynes, who struggles with substance abuse and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was freed from an eight-year conservatorship in March 2022.
