Amanda Bynes was likely living ‘on streets for days’ before psychiatric hold
Sources close to the troubled star have revealed more disturbing details about the days leading up to her being placed on a psychiatric hold.
Amanda Bynes was likely living “on the streets for days” before she called police on herself after suffering a mental break.
Sources close to the former Amanda Show star told TMZ on Wednesday that her car had been towed in Long Beach, California, on March 15.
The area is about 60km from her home and 25km from where she was found in downtown Los Angeles early on Sunday, reports Page Six.
The outlet’s sources believe Bynes may have hitchhiked or taken public transport to get around and eventually made her way to Hollywood, where she was spotted in a fan’s TikTok video just days before being placed on a psychiatric hold.
Bynes’ lawyer didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
In the video – which was shared by @kaitlynhotfox on Monday but filmed on March 17 – Bynes could be seen holding on to the TikToker’s arm as they walked together.
“Amanda, say, ‘What’s up?’” the social media user said to the camera before Bynes, 36, responded, “What’s up?”
The TikToker explained that she had seen the actress walking the streets of Hollywood on St Patrick’s Day and felt compelled to greet her.
In the caption, however, the user made it clear that Bynes, who was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was unwell at the time of their run-in.
“Happy she’s getting the help she needs. She was sweet, gave her some money and talked. Sometimes people just [need somebody] to talk to,” she said.
In the clip, Bynes wore her hair in a high bun and dressed in an all-black outfit.
The Easy A actress’ appearance in the social media video came just two days before she was placed on a psychiatric hold on Sunday for roaming the streets of LA naked.
While the initial hold lasts 72 hours, TMZ reported that Bynes’ hold will be extended until she fully recovers.
Her ex-fiance, Paul Michael, claimed to Page Six that she had been “off her meds” prior to her psychiatric episode.
