If you’ve been fantasising about the range of hi-tech smart TVs currently on the market, we have some good news.

Boxing Day is just around the corner, which means you’ll soon be able to snap up your favourite model at a discounted price.

While the official sales haven’t started just yet, we’ve already spotted a few great deals, like this LG 55" OLED B4 4K Smart TV 24, which is $500 off at $1995 (down from $2495).

WHERE TO FIND THE BEST TV DEALS THIS BOXING DAY

The Boxing Day sales offer an opportunity to pick up top electronics at heavily reduced prices, making it an ideal time to check out the latest TV models. The sales also see older television models and models by less expensive brands go for record low prices; so those after an affordable TV model can get more bang for their buck.

This year, you can shop the biggest TV deals at The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Samsung and Appliances Online. Those after smaller TVs, or TVs by less expensive brands, can check out Amazon Australia or eBay Australia.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LED, QLED AND OLED?

When browsing for a new TV, one of the first things you’ll notice is the variety of types on offer. Most electronics sites will filter your TV search by asking whether you want to view LED, QLED or OLED options. So, what’s the difference?

As the name suggests, LED TVs typically use TFT-LCD panels with LED backlighting to offer better colour and brightness. However, the backlight prevents blacks from being truly dark, which can be a downside. LED TV models are typically cheaper than the alternatives though, making them a great option for the budget-conscious.

OLED TVs meanwhile use pixels that are self-illuminating, lending these models high levels of contrast, deep blacks and realistic looking colours.

QLED sits somewhere in between the two, though it is closer to a regular LCD TV than it is to an OLED model. Essentially, a QLED TV is just like an LED TV, but uses quantum dots to enhance brightness and colours.
