LED masks may be a pricey beauty investment but boy, do they treat a variety of skin concerns.

Wrinkles, acne, fine lines, dark spots, skin texture and more. Oh, and the best part? You can sit back, relax and enjoy the treatment from the comfort of your own home. How luxe!

Formerly, these at-home beauty devices were only accessible upon visits to cosmetologists or dermatologists. Unsurprisingly, they’re popular with celebrities too, with famous faces like Bella Hadid, Kourtney Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba and Emma Stone all fans of them.

They also make for a great (and slightly creepy and terrifying) selfie — need we say more?

If you are looking to invest in this latest development in beauty technology, read on for our roundup of the best LED light therapy face masks and devices — including the top-rated CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2 that our Shopping Writer, Harriet, says left her skin "looking fresher and glowy".

There's also the Qure Q-Rejuvalight Pro LED Mask that has quickly become a staple in our Shopping Writer Philippa's skincare routine.

EDITOR'S PICKS: LED LIGHT THERAPY MASKS WE'VE TRIED AND TESTED

CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2, $679.99 at CurrentBody

CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2

Tried and Tested by Harriet Amurao, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer

If you're new to LED masks and aren't sure which one's worth your time and money, you can't look past the Series 2 model from CurrentBody.

It’s built with 236 LEDs (as opposed to the Series 1 with 132 LEDs) and emits three different types of wavelengths: red light (633nm), near-infrared (830nm) and deep near-infrared (1072nm) to help improve the appearance of the skin.

After using this face mask for a little over three weeks, I can say that I noticed my skin looked fresher, glowy and healthier overall. What makes the mask great is that it's made from a smooth, flexible silicone and has been thoughtfully designed to be comfortable enough to wear while providing coverage for your nose, lips and chin (every inch of your face can reap the benefits of red light therapy with ease). Although it is a tad too big on me (especially around the lip area), the mask comes with adjustable multiway velcro straps to help the mask fit better and securer.

For those that are concerned about their eyes, don't worry, it comes with optional eye inserts that I personally like to use, as they make it easier to see and also help the mask fit better around the eyes. Not to mention, this mask is the epitome of convenience as it has a one-touch button operation and a clip-on controller that allows you to move around and do things hands-free.

With each session being ten minutes long, I like to use it every other night for ten minutes (the recommended amount of time), and it’s honestly one of those little luxuries that I look forward to – it’s the perfect time for me to truly unwind in bed while watching a movie, reading on my kindle, cuddling with my furbabies and more.

Obviously, the $679.99 price tag is clearly on the more expensive side. But it's worth the money considering you're paying for a top-of-the-line model that is well-made, easy to use, effective and comfortable, plus you'll use it often resulting in low cost per use.

Q-Rejuvalight Pro LED Mask, $519 at Qure Skincare

Tried and Tested by Philippa Tonkin, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer

If you're looking for a mask that you will actually use day in and day out, this one from Qure is the way to go. Each treatment only lasts for three minutes making it super easy to use even when short on time. I've been popping mine on as soon as I get out of the shower every night. Then, by the time I get dressed in my pyjamas and hang my towel back in the bathroom time is almost up. For me, convenience is one of the most important aspects when it comes to beauty tools because if you don't use it consistently, it's really not worth your money.

It is one of the only masks that contains five light colours: Infrared light, deep red, red, amber and blue. On the Qure Skincare App, users can choose between different treatments and can use them on different parts of the face simultaneously.

When I first started using the mask almost two months ago now my skin was in a fairly good place so I used the combined red, deep red, infrared and ambe treatment on my whole face. Since then my skin broke out a little because I started testing some new products and as a result, I started mixing it up with the combined red and blue treatment. I liked that I could use the red and blue light at the same time. This way I was able to use this treatment on my forehead and chin where I was breaking out and keep the red and amber treatment on the other parts of my face that were ok.

Back to the mask, it uses five concentrated wavelengths of light to help treat a multitude of skin concerns deep in the skin that your regular serums can't normally reach. Other benefits of the mask focus on helping improve the appearance of the skin.

Personally, I saw the most change in terms of  my skin appearing fresher and balanced. While I do still have a couple of blemishes on my skin, the rest of my skin has really improved.

Yes, this mask isn't cheap but it's definitely not the most expensive on this list and has really worked with my skin and my busy schedule.

Omnilux Contour Face, $605 at Omnilux

Tried and Tested by Hannah Paine, news.com.au checkout Editor

Omnilux was one of the first companies doing in-salon LED light therapy and is known for being a really popular option. It's even approved by none other than supermodel Bella Hadid.

I’m not going to lie — this was a huge expense for me when I bought it. But two years on I can say the Omnilux Contour Face was well worth the spend.

I’ve noticed a difference in my skin. It appears calmer, fresher and glowy. It’s a great alternative to in-salon LED light treatments, which can cost around $60 to $100 a pop. It’s important to note my mask does have some wear and tear to it after two years of use, including small creases in the mask. However, all the lights still work as normal.

The hardest part is the initial cost and getting into a routine of using it often enough to see results. You won’t see a difference if you only use it occasionally, you need to be consistent. But let me tell you, it’s worth it!

BEST LED LIGHT THERAPY MASKS

Dr Naomi LED It Glow Light Therapy Device For Skin, $595 at Dr Naomi Skin

Tried and Tested by Marina Tatas, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer

The Dr Naomi LED face mask is a staple part of my skincare routine and I can confidently say it has helped improve the appearance of my skin. After consistent use, my skin looked more glowy and I also use the mask when I have an active breakout and I’ve noticed it can help with the healing process.

I love the convenience of an at-home device — yes the in-clinic LED lights are more powerful than what you get in an at-home mask — but the ease, convenience and benefit of being able to treat your skin whenever you want outweighs that for me. And if you know you’ll use it consistently, I think the Dr Naomi LED mask is well worth your hard-earned cash.

Tried and Tested by Claudia Coy, news.com.au checkout Social Media Producer

I've wanted to try one of these masks ever since I had a facial at The Skin Bar and fell asleep during the LED therapy — a treatment that does all the heavy lifting for you AND it takes just 10 minutes a day. Yes, please!

Since using the Dr Naomi LED It Glow Light Therapy Device for the past six weeks, I've noticed my skin looked fresher overall.

While you have the option to go about your usual routine while using the LED mask, I like to add a little extra indulgence and use it while laying on my bed, in my comfy PJs, with my favourite podcast on. Having 10 minutes to just stop and enjoy some self-care, while using a device I know is helping my skin is my favourite part of the day.

My only warning is to tie your hair back before wrapping the velcro strap around your head, as it can tug if your hair is left out.

BEST LED LIGHT THERAPY TOOLS

Foreo UFO 2 Smart Mask Treatment, $329 at THE ICONIC

Tried and Tested by Marina Tatas, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer

It's genius really — this unique device combines sheet masking with LED light, plus cold and hot sonic wave technology to help your skin.

Setting it up was fairly easy, and you're able to do all the guided treatments through the FOREO app, which I loved. It was nice to hear a calming voice talk you through all the treatments — it felt like I was at a spa!

Obviously, it's not going to completely change your skin like an intense laser session or skin needling, but it does offer a super relaxing facial with light therapy, vibrations and more. Your skin is going to feel and appear more fresh.

Always read the label and follow directions for use.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING AN LED MASK

When choosing LED masks to include in our list, we evaluated several factors:

Price: LED masks and devices are a pricier beauty investment, so you may need to splash some of your hard-earned cash on one. However, we've made sure to include a variety of price points in our list, starting at $129 and ending at $605, to suit a variety of budgets.

Your skin concerns: Different LED lights target different skin concerns, so if you're keen to address a particular issue, make sure the device you choose has the best LED light for you. Red light helps to reduce inflammation and encourages collagen production, whereas blue light is great for acne-prone skin types. Yellow light also works hard on anti-ageing concerns.

Convenience: An at-home beauty device needs to be convenient for you to want to use it consistently. We recommend looking for something that's easy to use and wireless.

Warranty: If you're worried about the longevity of these devices, where possible, we've included the warranty for each of these devices to give you some peace of mind when shopping.
