What You Need To Know

One of our top picks when it comes to microcurrent facial devices is easily the ZIIP HALO. It uses Dual Waveform Technology – nanocurrent and microcurrent – to mimic the electric impulses sent from your brain to your skin cells to promote growth and repair.

The microcurrent treatments stimulate your facial muscles to contract and relax, resulting in an overall lifted and more toned appearance.

What else makes it different to other microcurrent devices? We spoke to ZIIP founder Melanie Simon and she explains how it “tones and lengthens the muscles in the face in a way that is most flattering”, thanks to the shape of the device.

She continues, “besides toning, the ZIIP device not only strengthens muscles, but also, equally as important, the ZIIP stimulates the multitude of lymph nodes in the face to remove excess fluid that weighs the face down. Last, but not least, each ZIIP treatment increases your skin’s ability to produce extreme amounts of collagen and elastin.”

Aussie model and fashion designer Nadia Bartel is also a big fan, showing her TikTok followers how it’s made a “big difference” to her skin.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A FACIAL TONING DEVICE?

A facial toning device is a type of tool that emits a low-voltage electrical current into the skin (which mirrors your own body’s electrical currents) to give you a tighter and more lifted complexion.

Melanie explains how the term ‘facial toning device’ has almost become synonymous with ‘microcurrent device’.

“ZIIP is the only device (at-home or professional) that offers both microcurrent and nanocurrent in a single treatment. It also allows you to access other treatments through the app, all with unique waveform combinations. There are over 20 different waveforms between all of the treatments: alternating current, low frequency, high frequency, many different shaped waveforms, as well as microcurrent and nanocurrent.”

HOW DOES A MICROCURRENT OR FACIAL TONING DEVICE WORK?

“When the proper amount of electrical current is put into the skin (must be lower than 500 microamps and higher than 500 nanoamps) the results are astounding,” Melanie said.

HOW TO USE A MICROCURRENT FACIAL DEVICE?

You want to start off with clean skin – most microcurrent devices will come with a conductive gel that’s recommended to layer onto your skin before going in with the tool. Then power on your device and slowly apply light pressure, allowing the electrical muscle stimulation to really get in there and contract the muscles in your skin.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING A MICROCURRENT FACIAL DEVICE?

According to Melanie, the benefits from microcurrent technology can be varied.

“You can count on your skin being lifted, toned and sculpted, but also, overtime, the texture of your skin will improve dramatically. Many people say they have a glow that looks as if it’s radiating from the inside out.”

At home microcurrent devices can also help with collagen and elastin production and lymphatic drainage.

“The more often you use your ZIIP, the more lasting the results will be.”
