Have you ever tried a TikTok-viral beauty product and been incredibly disappointed with the results? It happens.
Yes, products aren’t designed to work for everyone.
But also sometimes, viral beauty brands just aren’t stacked up to what you expect them to be.
Dr Naomi Skin is different though.
Offering skincare solutions that are both fun and effective, the brand is founded by none other than cosmetic doctor Dr Naomi. The best selling products are known for its viral appeal, while also providing science-backed results.
And one product in particular has seen massive success thanks to social media.
Dr Naomi’s sold over 25,000 units of Catfish – a blurring eye cream that’s gone viral for its
Five-star rating shoppers and Aussie influencers like Martha Kalifatidis have named this a “miracle” and “magic” eye cream for its ability to make such a “big difference” to getting rid of the appearance of fine lines under the eyes.
SKINCARE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE BORING
“Skincare should be effective, but it doesn’t have to be boring,” says Dr. Naomi.
“I wanted to create a line that combines the fun of beauty with the science of dermatology. The response from TikTok and our customers has been incredible – it’s proof that when you pair great formulations with a little bit of humour, people take notice.”
But of course, having your products go TikTok viral is not all that’s important to the successful founder.
Sure it’s great for product sales she admits, but at the same time, Dr Naomi’s goal is “not to be a fad or the flavour of the month.
“We want to work with our customers over the long term and really look after their skin and protect it. I want our brand to stand the test of time, be super-dependable and to keep our customers happy and confident with their skin health through their life stages.”
WHAT DR NAOMI LOVES TO DO EVERYDAY
Dr Naomi has been deep in the beauty world for some time now.
“My interest in brightening topicals started at my first cosmetic job over 20 years ago … I saw how much pigmentation and skin issues impacted people’s peace.”
And that’s only translated into her finding new ways everyday to develop her successful skincare and beauty brand.
Since its launch in 2021, Dr Naomi Skin has offered a variety of moisturisers, cleansers, serums, and even LED face masks, with a focus on brightening the skin.
Having a genuine passion for beauty is one of those things that can really guarantee success.
She continues, “I’m obsessed with the new in beauty/aesthetics, I always have been. My favourite weeks of every year are when I go to conferences where the latest innovations in beauty tech, information, ingredients and techniques are shared. Creating innovative beauty products/techniques or treatments doesn’t feel like work for me. It is how I’ve chosen to live my whole working life.”
‘MAKING PEOPLE FEEL HAPPY IN THEIR SKIN’
After spending all those years in the beauty space, it can be hard to decide on the moments that really stand out from the rest.
“For me it’s not one moment. It’s those times when we make an impact on a customer’s life. Every time I get customers messages about how we transformed their skin, it makes my day. When customers send beautiful before and afters, I really feel it, it makes me feel so happy.”
She continues, “This is what it’s all about and why I chose to be in beauty/aesthetics all those decades ago. I just love making people feel happy in their skin.”
DR NAOMI’S TOP BEAUTY TIPS
Of course when you get the chance to ask a beauty expert anything, you have to find out their best tips and tricks. There’s so much advice out there, it can be hard to knuckle down and decide on the absolute must-haves for your skin type.
According to Dr Naomi, thankfully there’s just a few tips you need to achieve your best skin yet.
“So much is about being consistent”, she says.
“Sunscreen, LED masking, at home peels like my product One Night Stand are also vital.”
Anything she doesn’t recommend?
Dr Naomi shares, “because we are a cosmeceutical brand, the one thing I see too regularly is people introducing active ingredients too quickly. They’re so good for the skin, but people need to follow the directions and introduce them gradually.”
So when it comes to adding active ingredients like retinol and chemical exfoliants into your skincare routine, it’s best to just take it slow.
OUR REVIEW OF DR NAOMI’S NEW AND TOP SELLING PRODUCTS
Catfish Blurring Eye Cream, from $89 at Dr Naomi
Tried and Tested by Philippa Tonkin, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
Catfish is one of Dr Naomi’s best-selling products and is designed to target fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. The key ingredients of Hyaluronic Acid, Hexapeptide-8, Dr Naomi’s brightening cocktail and Organic Kangaroo Paw Flower extract work together to brighten, smooth and plump the undereye area.
First things first, I’m 26 and crow’s feet aren’t at high of my list of concerns at the moment so I can’t speak to how it works to target fine lines. But I do have quite puffy undereyes that also get fairly dark when my sleep isn’t at its best. I’ve now been using the eye cream for around a month and have genuinely noticed a big difference. I’m so used to my puffy undereyes and can’t believe how they look now.
If fine lines is important to you, though, news.com.au checkout editor Hannah Paine previously trialled it and said, “It’s also the best performing eye cream for targeting the appearance of fine lines that I’ve used – and I’ve tried a lot.”
Mr Exosome Regenerative Rich Cream, $169 at Dr Naomi
Tried and Tested by Marina Tatas, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
I’ve been looking for a new moisturiser to really nourish my skin now that the cold wintertime is here, and this new product release from Dr Naomi has truly been my skin’s saviour.
Mr Exosome offers a thick, rich and super luxe texture that absorbs quickly into the skin, so it’s great for both morning and night.
After consistently using this product for a few weeks, I noticed a big difference in my skin’s texture and tone. My complexion looked brighter and more even, my dark spots and acne scars appeared less visible and overall my skin felt a lot more hydrated.
The powerful formula is packed with plant-based exosomes. The moisturiser also features things like glycerin, kangaroo paw flower extract, niacinamide, centella asiatic and green tea leaf extract which all work together to calm, hydrate and nourish the skin.
I’m a big fan of this formula -it’s a total must-have for dry, winter skin.
Plump Fiction Anti-Ageing Moisturiser, $139 at Dr Naomi
Tried and Tested by Susannah Hardy, news.com.au checkout Partnerships Writer
Being in my mid-50s, I find my skin often looks dull, drawn, and just plain tired out. So I’m always looking for skincare to help brighten things up. I know ageing is part of life and there’s not a lot we can do about it, but I still like my skin to look the best it can. So when I got the opportunity to try Dr Naomi’s best-selling Plump Fiction Anti-Ageing Moisturiser, I was more than keen, let me tell you.
I tried this product morning and night, after cleansing over a few weeks and I have to say, I was delighted. Firstly, apart from the excellent name, I love the packaging. It comes with an easy-to-use pump style top that you simply press down to receive the perfect amount for both face and décolletage. You don’t actually need a lot as it goes a long way.
The cream itself is incredibly rich in consistency, which is what I always look for in an anti-ageing product. My skin is generally dry and prone to redness, but I found Plump Fiction to be just so nourishing and soothing when applied. And it didn’t just sit on the surface but was quickly absorbed and worked well as a base when applying make-up. It also has a pleasant scent, which I appreciated especially when wearing at night.
After applying Plump Fiction, my skin felt immediately soft, dewy and, well, plump, like the name suggests. It really felt like instant hydration for my face. Now, after a couple of weeks, my skin definitely looks more moisturised with none of the signs of dryness or flaking that sometimes happens as the weather cools. I usually feel quite self conscious about my ageing skin but after using Pump Fiction, it feels soft and more hydrated. It also looks brighter and a lot more vibrant – and at my age you can’t ask for more than that.
I definitely recommend Plump Fiction Anti-Ageing Moisturiser. I can’t speak for its effects long term but so far I’m super impressed with how it has already improved the appearance of my skin in just a few weeks – and I will definitely continue using it.
