When you think of the ultimate celebrity to give you advice, it’s hard to go past the likes of Tyra Banks.
With over 35 years experience in the modelling industry, she’s hosted cult reality TV show America’s Next Top Model, walked the Victoria’s Secret runway numerous times, written a New York Times Best Seller titled Modelland and even acted alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood (Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Life-Size and Coyote Ugly to name just a few).
One thing is for certain, Tyra Banks knows a thing or two about beauty and fashion. And since moving to Australia last year, the US star has become quite proficient in Aussie slang. She even knows what ‘bogan’ and ‘derro’ means. But there was one phrase that has her stumped: “Chuck a U-ey”.
“That sounds like an Adidas Chucks, from the UE? The fancy Chucks?!” she tells news.com.au checkout at the launch of her Smize and Dream ice cream pop up in Sydney.
We sat down with the international supermodel to unpack exactly what products she puts on her face, her cheapest beauty hack and the one fashion trend she thinks will never go out of style.

They have this hand soap that has a pumice in it and now when I don’t wash my hands with it I feel like my hands are dirty. And it smells so good. When I use their soaps, I wet my hands a little, put the soap on it and I go [Tyra raises hands to her nose to smell] and then go back down. It’s like aromatherapy, so I look like a weirdo.”
