I want to be fully transparent with you: it’s taken me 32 years to actually take my skincare seriously and while I’ve tried my best to hide this secret shame, it’s vital information for this review.
You see, when you spend most of your adolescence and all of your 20s relying on whichever cleanser your mum picks up from the supermarket and whatever moisturiser is on sale at the local chemist – your skin doesn’t always appreciate you. I say this to say, my skin needed A LOT of TLC.
So you can imagine my excitement when Alpha-H launched their new Alpha-H Liquid Gold + Vitamin C product, a new, improved version of their cult classic Alpha-H Liquid Gold.
NOTE TO READER: Alpha-H has launched 20 per cent off sitewide for their Afterpay Day sale.

WHAT IS ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD + VITAMIN C AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Liquid Gold has been Alpha-H’s best selling product for 25 years now, with one bottle selling every 3 minutes. So when word got out that there would be a new Liquid Gold formula hitting the shelves, the beauty world went wild. Not only that, but the new formula would include vitamin C, which means you get the exfoliating power of 5% Glycolic Acid AND the brightening effects of vitamin C all in one go.
So let’s break it down, what does 5% Glycolic Acid actually mean? According to the Alpha H website, Glycolic Acid has been “clinically proven to increase luminosity, improve elasticity and even tone and texture.” Combine that with the power of vitamin C to “brighten dullness and inhibit excess melanin production to reduce the look of pigmentation” and you’ve got yourself quite a powerhouse product.
But what does Liquid Gold + Vitamin C do? According to Alpha-H, you should “notice smoother skin instantly, glowing skin by morning, improved tone, texture and brightness in just four weeks”.
HOW DO YOU USE ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD + VITAMIN C?
You should apply Liquid Gold + Vitamin C right after your cleanser at night, on fresh, dry skin. Any other products used underneath or on top of Liquid Gold + Vitamin C can potentially change the efficacy of the ingredients. While you can moisturise after Liquid Gold + Vitamin C, I opted to skip this step to really let the product work it’s magic overnight.
You only need around 1-2ml of the liquid per use and it’s as simple as saturating a cotton pad and swiping the product across your face, neck and décolletage (careful to avoid your eyes, nose and mouth).
While the product is incredible, it’s also really strong, especially if your skin is not used to a chemical exfoliant, so I’d suggest using the product once and leaving 4-5 days until using again, to ensure no irritation. From there, you can use Liquid Gold + Vitamin C up to three alternate nights a week.
WHERE CAN YOU BUY ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD + VITAMIN C?
Here’s the great news – the 100ml bottle of Liquid Gold + Vitamin C is currently on sale for $69.95 (down from $89.95) on the Alpha-H website – and if you spend over $70, you’ll also receive free shipping.
ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD + VITAMIN C REVIEW
If I thought I liked the original Liquid Gold, then it’s fair to say I have fallen head over heels in love with the Liquid Gold + Vitamin C.
Not only have I fallen in love with the product, but I actually enjoy my nightly skincare routine now. Whether it’s enjoying the moment of self-pampering or seeing the visible results the next morning, Liquid Gold + Vitamin C was the missing piece I never knew I needed. I actually noticed a very clear difference after just one use and the results only got better from there.
At full price, the Liquid Gold + Vitamin C will set you back $86.95, but the results are definitely worth the investment. And given you only need a few drops every alternate night, the 100ml bottle should last you at least a few months.
After two weeks of using the product not only does my skin look brighter and more glowy but it also feels softer, smoother and more plump. I’d recommend the Liquid Gold + Vitamin C to anyone who wants to target their texture, brighten their complexion or simply needs a little pick me up.
