The Mongols bikie clubhouse in Port Melbourne has been raided this morning by police as part of a major citywide police operation.

Detectives from Victoria Police organised crime sections and divisional offices executed a warrant at the gang’s Lalor St stronghold at 7.40am.

The swoop was part of a broader operation also involving Border Force officials and Australian Federal Police agents.

Fourteen homes and businesses were searched in suburbs including Melbourne, Gowanbrae, Tullamarine, Fawkner, Hillside, Wollert, Greenvale, Docklands, Coburg, Werribee, Richmond, Port Melbourne and South Morang.

Ten people were arrested and drugs, guns and luxury cars seized in what a Victoria Police spokeswoman described as “an ongoing investigation into the activities of a number of people connected to outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Drugs confiscated are believed to include cocaine, methylamphetamine, cannabis, ecstasy and steroids.

A Lamborghini, a Mercedes-Benz and a Land Rover, were towed away.

A silver Lamborghini was driven out of a carpark on Bowen Crescent in Southbank by a female owner about 1.50pm.

The woman was accompanied by police from the crime command wearing bulletproof vests.

The woman came from the swanky Albert Place apartment complex and was quickly escorted back to her residence by police.

The luxury vehicle will soon be towed to a police holding facility before it is examined.

The woman concealed her identity with a face mask, beanie and hooded puffer jacket.

The Mongols have emerged in recent years as major players in Victoria’s outlaw motorcycle gang scene.

Two of their members were charged in January over last year’s EastLink Freeway murder of fruiterer Paul Virgona.

Mongol member Rocco Curra was shot in August last year in an ambush in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

There have been reports of conflict with the rival Finks gang resulting in tit-for-tat shootings and firebombings over the past year.

Former Mongol Shane Bowden was last month released from a central Victorian jail and brought back to Melbourne in a stretch limousine, accompanied by gang members on their motorcycles.

Fifteen days later, he was wounded in a drive-by shooting at Epping, in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

Bowden has since been kicked out of the gang.
