A knife-wielding doughnut thief stormed an inner city shop and threatened staff this afternoon.
Police arrested a man following an attempted armed robbery at the Krispy Kreme donut store on Collins St, near Spencer St about 2pm.
It is alleged the man walked into the store, produced a knife and made demands for food before fleeing on foot empty handed.
“He was arrested a short time later and is currently being interviewed,” police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said.
“No one was injured during the incident.”
The usually-busy shop was cordoned off this afternoon while detectives combed the scene for evidence and took witness statements from staff.
The investigation remains ongoing.
