The captain of Australia’s London 2012 Olympic boxing team, Luke Jackson, has had his Olympic ring stolen for a second time.

Jackson’s prized possession was at his mate’s house in Box Hill South when thieves struck on Friday night, taking the specially made ring and other jewlery.

The ring, which features the five Olympic rings on it, was also stolen in 2013 from Jackson’s house in Tasmania, he said.

“I was up in Sydney for a training camp and my house in Tasmania got rolled and it got stolen,” he said.

“Fortunately local media and some of my mates helped me out and it got turned into the police station.”

Jackson was staying with his mate in Box Hill South last year when he left a bag of belongings, including the ring, before he flew back to his home in Sydney.

“He was going to come up and watch me fight in December, but that didn’t happen, and then in April my fight got cancelled because of COVID,” Jackson said.

“He was going to send it up via mail but I said leave it there but as it happens the house got rolled on Friday.”

The ring, which Jackson had made for him after achieving his life goal of making the Olympic boxing team, is a one of a kind, but would have no value to anyone else.

“The ring means more to me than what anyone can imagine or what it could possibly mean to anyone else,” he said.

“I got it made after making the team which I had put my whole life into and never thought I’d make it after missing Beijing 2008.

“It was a little medal to myself.

“You can’t do anything with it so just hand it back in because it’s no good to anyone else.”

Jackson pleaded for its return and said everyone makes mistakes.

“I don’t hold grudges and there won’t be any questions asked, just drop it off at the cop shop, I just want it back,” he said.

Whitehorse crime investigation unit detectives believe the thieves forced entry into the Station St home about 7.20pm Friday.
