A police officer who went for a late-night spin while sitting in a shopping trolley will not be reprimanded by the force.
Bizarre footage captured the uniformed cop, who was on-duty at the time, being pushed around a roundabout, in a small trolley, by a male civilian.
Several onlookers including three other police officers watched the weird stunt, which took place in the township of Cowes on Phillip Island on New Year’s Eve.
Victoria Police said no further action would be taken.
The matter was dealt with at a local level, with conversations held with the officers in the days following the incident,” a statement said.
“This workplace guidance included reiterating the safety risks,” it said.
The video, uploaded to the Brown Cardigan Instagram page, went viral and has attracted close to 40,000 likes.
“Nothing to see here, just some doughnut loving coppers,” the post’s caption read.
The video attracted mixed commentary.
“The fun police are going to shut this down,” one comment read.
Another said: “This is how policing should be”.
